Bambou Tavern - Gatineau, Quebec

Had seen good reviews of Bambou Resto in Aylmer GB Group. Thought I would try it for Mother's Day. They would not take an order until 4 PM. Called back but all lines were busy at 4 PM. When I got through I was told they won't deliver in Hull ... (Plateau area) so had to pick up. Waiting for my order 2 ppl returned had been given the wrong order. Disappointed with the taste of the food. Fried rice was tasteless, chicken balls had thick batter and garlic sauce had a consistency of a cup of tea. Beef Steak Kew was tasty and well presented but the beef broccoli was nothing like the pic on their website. The meat was thin and soft with a terrible odor which I think was cow liver and had to be thrown out. The Almond cookies were also thrown out as they tasted strongly of cooking oil. The food at Bamboo is fresh and delicious. I got delivery and the service was fast, and still very warm. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

We have been ordering here for years. It really went downhill for a while, however, our meals that we ordered on Sunday was so fresh and good it has restored our confidence in the Bamboo. Thank you for keeping the memory of the Bamboo alive. Cheers

My Husband and I won a Valentine's Day contest with Bambou for a free meal. It definitely brightened our day, especially as we had to celebrate a weekend late as I am a front line worker. Not only did the owner go above and beyond to accommodate us, ... she delivered it in person the weekend after. She also took into consideration my food intolerances! The won ton soup is excellent, really flavourful won ton's and tasty broth. The egg rolls and garlic spare ribs are also really fantastic and the chicken fried rice had a great amount of seasoning. Owners of Bamboo, You guys NEED a bigger buffet and you definitely have the room. With the very small selection you offer now,you'd have to cut your buffet price in half. I would totally go to bambou again if the buffet was twice the size...at least. I really feel a ... little more pride needs to be taken a by the owners and staff. You have so much room and potential in this beautiful town. Also investing in some more official signs to identify food at the buffet would do wonders. Read more
