The British Public House - Gatineau, Quebec

PUB ONLY - hotel was amazing and I definitely recommend a stay there. As for the pub AVOID the disappointment. We went for dinner and karaoke. The kitchen and our server were a HUGE disappointment. They were out of pizza dough and burger buns by 7pm which is literally 2/3 ... of their menu. They then blamed it on the evening kitchen being new. It should have been the day shift or a manager during the week to ensure the evening kitchen staff were stocked. We had a really nice server take our reservation during the day. The night server kept forgetting about us, super long delays incoming to our table. He kept forgetting our orders. There was only one update after 45 minutes of waiting why there was a delay in our food. The food itself was underwhelming for the price point. I respect new staff and even the wait on food but it wasn't busy, there was no good reason for the lack of dough and buns. There was no good reason for shoddy serving. We made the best of it with karaoke, friends and the fact we stayed at the awesome hotel but will NEVER be back to eat. Read more

HOTEL ONLY - Little bit of a mishap with a website upgrade and reorg of hotel but issues resolved within 5 minutes! I believe you can tell how great a company's client service is, when there is an issue and how they deal with it. I was floored how quickly a ... resolution was found! The team was kind, logical and quick. The room was clean, large and comfy. The shower was hot and refreshing. We will definitely be staying here again! We held my mother in law’s funeral reception at the British, and Jenn and her team went above and beyond. We had our wedding reception here in the Gold Room. Jenna and her team did a wonderful job. The setup was great, the food was excellent, and our guests who stayed at the hotel had a wonderful time. I highly recommend The British as a wedding venue.

We were at The British for a birthday party and stayed the night in one of the hotel rooms. The staff were very kind and friendly, and the food at the party was very good!
