I recently had a disappointing experience at this place today. While waiting for my food, a staff member, who appeared to be intoxicated, asked me to vacate my table, claiming it was needed for people wanting to drink. Despite being told I could stay and eat, I felt targeted. It’s ... disheartening that I was treated differently, possibly due to my race. This place needs to communicate its policies clearly, as other people were allowed to stay without ordering drinks. This discriminatory treatment is unacceptable, and I hope the management addresses and rectifies such incidents. It's taken me decades of having driven by the Taverne before finally stopping by for lunch. It was exactly what I expected and was hoping for; an authentic old Hull tavern complete with numerous old and used linoleum tables, dart boards fake wood walls. A decent sized ... Montreal smoked meat sandwich complete with a dill pickle and fresh cooked crispy fries, and a quart of Laurentide (complete with a tiny fruit juice sized glass, bien sur) for a mere $22 including tip. My friend and I just went over for supper and I've got to admit that the food and service was excellent 👌 and I've got to say that the cheeseburgers and poutine are excellent and off the chart you won't regret going for a bite at this place I will ... go again that's for sure!!! 🙏 Read more

I still give this place a 5 star review...as it is a very good place. We have to remember that personal experience doesn't affect a place's credibility or appreciability. I had bad experiences...but it was MY fault...not the place's fault. So yes...it is a good place to go.
