Sawmill Prime Rib & Steakhouse - Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta

We celebrated my birthday last night at The Sawmill Fort Saskatchewan; my mother-in-law, my husband and myself. Donald looked after us like family. He was funny, gracious and very kind to my m-i-l and suggested a steak sandwich when she couldn’t decide what she would like to order from the menu. Absolutely delicious, we really enjoyed ourselves. Service was excellent

We went for a meal with 4 family members to this restaurant June 6. Out of the 6 of us, 1 was happy with their meal. The service was excellent except for the fact that our hostess didn't seem to notice that we all (except 1) left much more meat ... on our plates then we ate. The appetizers were very good but not the mains. The pictures I have attached are 2 of our meals. The first was supposed to be ribeye ($48.00) but was tough and had almost no marbling....more like a sirloin than a ribeye. Two people ordered this and were charged for ribeye. The other picture is supposed to be prime rib...and 8 ounce cut. It was almost shaved, not a steak like cut. I asked for medium. I got this thin pile of fat and gristle with a bit of meat attached. I couldn't cut it with my steak knife nor chew it when I managed to get a bite. What you see is about 3/4 or more of what I received....not even close to 8 ounces. It was inedible. The mashed potatoes were warm, not hot, and the Yorkshire pudding was cool and not that easy to chew, either. The other meals ordered were chicken cordon bleu which had a sour taste and a filet mignon which was ordered medium rare and served extremely well done. We understood that this was only the second day of reopening after COVID-19 closure but don't feel that is any reason to get the very poor quality we were served...not what we'd ordered. This was the second time we've had similar experience with prime rib at 2 different Sawmills. We won't be back. Read more

First time here and I really the hospitality, ambience and the courtesy of the staffs. The food was so great and tastes very great. I had the Cajun Style CAB New York Striploin and the chocolate dome for dessert. I so much love the mushrooms and the bread as well. So ... lovely.... I will highly recommend this place.... Pretty sure this is the worst Sawmill in the history of Sawmill's. I ordered the black and blue salad and received this thing. Literally the worst thing I've ever been sent from a commercial kitchen. I didn't see the point in sending it back, so I scraped ... off the nasty seasoning (that seemed to be put on the steak after it was cooked) and fed it to my dogs. Read more
