Pho Langs - Edmonton, Alberta

I had the spicy pho and it was sooo good. Their customer service is on point!! Id come back again

The pho was pretty good but I had better pho. The skewers was good and deep fried banana. The deep fried banana tasted just like a spring roll.

It wasn't busy when we entered the restaurant. Clean and it smelled sweet from the bubble tea place next door. The waitress was quick to ask what we would like to drink and gave us time to figure out what we'd like to eat. The menu contained the usual Vietnamese items. Spring ... rolls, salad rolls, pho, vermicelli, etc. What was a nice touch was the division of Southern and Northern dishes. We ordered the salad rolls, pho, and vermicelli with meat. The Vermicelli came with grilled pork and chicken and 1 spring roll with the usual Nuoc Mam Cham (vietnamese spring roll dipping sauce). The grilled meats were delicious, however the spring roll sauce seemed watered down so it did not add any flavour to the Vermicelli. The Pho came out piping hot, which is a plus. The meats tasted good. However, it seemed like the broth was also watered down and a bit on the sweet side (too sweet for a savoury dish). The Pho also came with tendon, but the tendon was bland (having no flavour like it was boiled in water and not in the Pho Broth) The salad rolls came with the usual peanut sauce. But the peanut sauce was thin, too sweet and not savoury enough as a sauce for the salad rolls. The service was great (though it wasn't busy, we'll try going during a busier). The food at Pho Langs is what I would imagine truly authentic Vietnamese food tastes like. The flavours in their dishes are complex and well balanced. It is probably the best Vietnamese restaurant I have been to in Canada.

I went to their new location on 106 street Edmonton, opening day. It wasn't that great. I ordered a large pho noodle soup, $12. It took about 15 min to arrive and was essentially just a large bowl, very little noodles, small portions and a ton of ... soup. The soup was not great, felt bland like it was made from some type of soup base. Didn't really have a distinct color to it. I think it's better than Doans which is across the street, but not better than Hoang Long a couple blocks away (I don't have high regards for that place either). Despite their menu saying they are the best, they don't come close to the premier Vietnamese restaurants that are cheaper and better in every category (e.g. king noodle, tau bay, pho hoan pasteur).
