Thai House Restaurant - Edmonton, Alberta

I am from out of town and happened upon this restaurant. I wish I had checked it's ranking on Google before I ordered, and avoided it. I'm really disappointed with my meal. I ordered the shrimp salad for takeout, and the only reason I ate it is because I paid ... almost $20 for it. For that much I expected healthy looking shrimp and fresh quality ingredients. Unfortunately what I got was sad looking, excessively fishy tasting shrimp and mostly too ripe produce. To top it off, the whole salad was completely doused in sauce, the majority of it fish sauce. In this dish it was way too overpowering, the flavour was horrendous to me. It was a small portion and I couldn't even eat the whole thing. Had the green curry chicken and rice. (Letter "I" on menu I think). I asked for medium level spice and it was just right! Very tasty and perfect portion for me! I will order from here again!

$17 for about one cup of panang curry is very over priced. Very disappointed with the quantity given. It's also not a quality over quantity thing as the curry was watered down. Called the restaurant to rectify the problem and they said that's a normal portion. I highly recommend ordering ... or eating at a different restaurant. Read more

I should have known something was up when I went in just after noon and it was totally empty. I got a stir fry from their Lunch Specials menu. It cost a total of $16.90 for what amounted to a portion around the same size as a steamer microwave dinner ... that costs $2.00. Horrifically overpriced and didn't even taste that good. Excellent Thai food and a great family runs the place too! I certainly recommend it! One of my Favorite lunch stops. I've often phoned in a coconut rice order to pick up on the way home. Goes great with any meal. Not the least expensive, but I'm not always ... looking for the cheapest food! Re portion size, I'm a tall guy, have a healthy appetite, not sure how anyone might claim the portions are small. That said, this is a new place that took over the old Thai spot before it.
