Empress Bakery - Edmonton, Alberta

Very tasty, tasty, I eat here every day, then money finished, now I not eat, when construction salary come I go eat European bread, and if no come, I no eat nowhere because European bread most tasty.

I have been going here since I was a kid and it was always a treat. Went in today and it has been sold again and the pastries that I loved as a child growing up are not good anymore. Probably won’t be back.

I have been going to Empress for dozens of years!! Has the business sold?? Went there today and the pastries were awful! Nothing like they used to be. And the staff and service was also substandard.

I don't live in Edmonton anymore, but whenever I'm in town I try to come by for the doughnuts. This is, in my opinion, one of the most honest, down to earth bakeries in Edmonton. The product is made with care, the service is direct but I've never found it ... to be rude, just efficient, and the doughnuts are phenomenal with excellent pricing. Being coddled and asked about your day and expecting a back and forth with questions about your day can be nice, but is not the point of such a physically small neighborhood bakery. I’ve read some of the other reviews and am really surprised at them. I think that people should extend kindness to the people who work here. The owners’ daughter, who works long hours at another job THEN comes to help her parents at the bakery, has a direct, but not ... rude, personality, which I find very refreshing. If kindness is extended, it is returned. People should stop being so expectant of receiving kindness and forgetting to give it. We return again and again for their strudel, donuts, pretzels and breads -they’re ultra-fresh and well-priced. I think their bismarcks and glazed donuts are the best in the city!! My husband, Marc, and I will continue to shop for years to come, we enjoy our visits and treats so much. Read more
