Whoa, total hidden gem! I suppose it's not really hidden on 99 Street off 51 Ave, but overshadowed by the Italian Centre and its Spinelli's cafe a few blocks west, D'Amore's Mercato was a pleasant surprise with it's wood-burning oven, very affordable, tasty pizza (~$14-15), and array of deli options including ... cafe desserts, Italian goods, and even... donairs? The pizza is a thicker crust North American-Italian fusion that's not quite Neopolitan, but also not your typical Boston Pizza pie. What matters is it's good! Cheese quality was great and crust had some nice crisp and leoparding, although my Margherita could've benefited from some fresh basil added. Overall, big thumbs up from me. Does it crack my top 5 pizzas in Edmonton? Not quite, but after dining at over 20 pizzerias in the last 1 year, where many of the places start to blend in, D'Amore's Mercato is memorable to me.
