We ordered lamb with an Indian sauce. The lamb was more than 50% just bones. The service was fast and we had a lot of fun with the waitress. She was very nice with us even though she didn't have experience on that. We had one of the funniest experiences in a ... restaurant. It was rather cold inside. I've been thinking about trying this restaurant for months and I'm so glad that I finally did. The food was fantastic and so was the staff. There are so many Indian restaurants in Edmonton so the bar is set very high for quality of food. This spot takes over the abandoned old King and I spot just off Whyte Avenue. Parking is sparse as the city has put up no parking signs on both sides of the ... street outside of this restaurant. I can imagine thaf makes it difficult in the winter to access this place. Once inside, the decor has been changed up to a hip darker setting to emulate a more modern locale. I've been here twice and the food was ok. I didn't find it mind blowing. The vindaloo was more tomato based and not as saucy than what I'm familiar with. I also tried the Kadai which was quite good. I was surprised that they didn't have Dal Tarka on the menu so we ordered the Masoor and it was also quite good. The naan is moist...not crispy like oven baked naan. The reason I give three and not four stars was because the rice wasn't great. I ordered both the basmati and the saffron. They were very dry and the grains were very small. Especially with saffron, I'm accustomed to a plumper fuller grain with a more robust flavor. It may be that the food quality was affected because I ordered takeout. Also...the service was ok. It wasn't friendly. I made some customizations to the order and I felt like was bothersome. As I said, there's a LOT of Indian restaurants around Whyte and downtown. Very cozy atmosphere..Feels like in a different country in the core of Whyte Avenue. Ideal for hangout while in staycation! Friendly staff. The food was amazingly good.
