I give this restaurant a "good enough" rating. I'm not sure why it has a 4 1/2 star rating, but our whole table was unimpressed. The food was adequate, but not great. The service was ok. Excellent food in a quaint restaurant. Portion size was very satisfying and service was very good. The only very minor complaint was that it was a bit warm in the restaurant. It would have been nice if the air conditioner and/or the overhead fan was on. ... Nevertheless, will definitely be coming again! Most certainly very fine dining. Read more

A group of four of us went for dinner at Gini's on a Thursday night because it was known to our guests as the best French restaurant in town. Though the exterior of the restaurant is somewhat shabby, and it is quiet inside, the restaurant is fantastic-- a hidden gem tucked ... away in the corner of the city. Our server, a tall, older man, served us with a sense of humour and prompt service. Everybody was happy with the food (including our guests which are French). We gave our compliments to the chef. We all give Gini's restaurant five thumbs up and will be back again for the great service and food! Read more

I went here for my one-year anniversary with my partner and we had a fantastic evening. We reserved a spot (although it didn't really seem necessary since it was the middle of the week) and we got to choose our spot by the fireplace. The setting was cute and intimate ... with their borderline cheesy decor of France, but it's a bonus in my eyes. We had mussels for the appetizer - the broth was so good I probably could've just drank it up. We had the Chateaubriand Bouquetiere (Center Cut AAA tenderloin) and their jumbo shrimp - both were great, but the shrimp was incredibly massive, plump, and delicious. I love my Alberta beef, but I would choose shrimp over beef any day if it's cooked that well all the time. They gave little mango sorbets as palate cleansers between meals, and I thought that was a nice touch. Overall, meal and experience was great. I'd go back for a nice special occasion meal. Read more
