Cafe Rista - Edmonton, Alberta

Did a quick search for lunch places near the seed shop I was at, and decided to give Cafe Rista a try. Shared a panini and each had a small soup which was a perfect portion for lunch. Added an Americano and enjoyed a delicious meal with my dad. Service was ... quick, friendly. Place was busy as it was peak lunch time. But still an enjoyable atmosphere. I followed google maps to the coffee shop and had it not been the cafe I would have driven right past. Actually I had to backup a little because I did in fact drive slightly past the shop. The parking lot is off to the side and quite spacious. The entire menu ... seems like it’s on the blackboard behind the counter. The barista took my order, I was feeling slightly drowsy and slow and the barista seemed bothered by this. I let it slide and just went with the flow. Later I overheard that one of his staff members did not come in to work so he was overloaded. You could tell he was very efficient in his way to work, juggling multiple clients at the same time. I ordered an americano and Italian breakfast sandwich which I asked to go, but I ended up eating inside the coffee shop. The sandwich was magnificent super delicious, crunchy bread, gooey cheese, and spicy Italian meat inside. I highly recommend the sandwich if you can tell the rate a bit of spice. The coffee was also good and the overall vibe inside the coffee shop was great. You could tell, whether it was the owner or not, he was really interacting with the staff and some of the regulars. I'm definitely coming back for a lunch. I didn't order food this trip (just an amazingly crafted latté) but their sandwich paninis look amazing. Seemed like a better then normal coffee place you wouldn't normally find buried in a local neighborhood. Parking isn't the best, but still manageable.

I've only been here a couple other times before and today was because I wanted to complete my coffee pass. The reason why I don't visit often is because of the location far from where I live and work, but the bigger issue is the hours as they're not open ... on weekends nor evenings. The food menu is great and I had a lox bagel here before and enjoyed it. This time around I got a chai latte. The space is red and black with a lot of natural light coming through. Not a great view since one side is parking lot and the other is a residential street, so if you're here, you're most likely here for the company you're with anyway. Read more

I always try and start my birthday off with a good breakfast and after a little research, I settled on Cafe Rista. Tucked away behind a medical center this place offers some fantastic breakfast options you won't really find elsewhere. The cafe has a retro vibe to it with great ... pieces of art spread out adding to its unique feel. Staff is nice though not too talkative, which for me is perfectly fine. The food itself is absolutely delicious and the prices very reasonable. This turned out to be a fantastic choice for a birthday breakfast to go and I will definitely be back. Read more
