Seasons Hot Pot - Edmonton, Alberta

I truly do not understand the 5 star reviews. This place is the worst value for your $$. $17 for a seasons meat combo platter and $3 for soup base, vegetables and noodles are free and ice cream/dessert is extra. I got a lamb platter and the portion is equal to one ... serving at any other hotpot (aka one small plate, 9-11 rolls to be exact). Vegetables given was a small selection in a bowl a little bigger. Noodles given were a small bowl about the size of my hand. For $20 I expect more. Spend the extra $5-10 and go somewhere for their all you can eat (I recommend Asian express, chili hotpot or even chong Qing). Some of them have $15 5 item specials that are more worth than this place. They also do not have lamb and herbs soup base. Their soup base was really nothing special. You would expect since the quantity is lower, their quality would be higher. But no. Meat tasted like any other place and vegetables are raw so you really can't mess that up. Many of my friends complained that their soup bases were flavorless. Half of the sauces were empty and we had to ask for them to be refilled. They did not even have XO sauce. One thing that I do like about this place is that they have a service button to call your server over. Great idea but never used. Overall, I do not recommend this place if you are a university/college student wanting value hot pot for your money. Being a hot pot enthusiast I love going to these types of restaurants. The service here was good and I appreciate the call button, however: - small portions for the same prices as other hot pot restaurants - meat can taste old or freeze burned, very thing and small pieces - things are ... not made in house such as spring rolls or dumpling that other locations have. - when you order items like tofu etc they will come to the table frozen, seriously customers can buy frozen items too. - variety is quite small - a tiny page, other places have oversized pages - the seasoned meats do not taste good at all, more like its covered in spicy dirt (sorry) - the broth is plain and flavorless compared to other places - as other reviews have stated, and I've been here a few times, quite often there is staff or family members of the owner who are loud and act entitled. This doesn't create a positive dining experience. - those chairs are super hard! Sadly there is a lot of business potential but it seems immediate profits matter more than building a solid reputation and customer base. Maybe its time to re-evaluate the business model. Read more

This is definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants in Edmonton. I believe they put a lot of effort in decoration and food selection. The spicy hotpot is super authentic. There is indeed some room for improvement in efficiency and responsiveness of the staff. But I think they're trying to ... do better. Highly recommend. Read more

Food quality was good. The portions are okay, I had to order an extra side of lamb because I wasn't full enough. It's not AYCE like the other hot pot options in Edmonton, I felt a bit ripped off paying $22 when I could pay $5-8 more to be filled ... to the brim and have a lot more variety. When I go out to eat hot pot I'm expecting a large variety of items, which I would have to pay $2-4 for each additional item at Seasons. Read more
