Had a wonderful server who took care of our large group with no mistakes on our multiple orders. Food came out relatively fast, although it was a day with low attendance. The menu is extensive and my impression is that it is very seafood driven, however they had all sorts ... of meat options and vegetarian food as well. I got a ceviche that was quite good but what I really liked was the soup of the day (potato and leek). They also have a "make your own charcuterie" section on the menu, although it did seem a bit overpriced at a glance. Would have to try it once to be certain about the volume served. Read more
Stayed at Varscona and decided to try Ampersand 27. Nice place, particularly for larger groups. Staff were very polite and helpful and always someone present to take my order. Appetizer was awesome, beat salad and I took a picture. Main meal, New York steak was cooked well but over seasoned. ... Otherwise complaints, just a bit disappointed that main meal wasn’t as good as the appetizer. Read more
Third visit to &27 over a few years, so I thought it was time to leave a review. Each time I’ve come here I’ve been blown away by the quality of the food. Their oysters and accompaniments are delicious, their happy hour wine is a very good deal at $5, and ... their main menu items are always top notch. The service is generally very good, and staff seem to help each-other out, telling me there is a positive work environment. Kitchen has also been very good at accommodating minor adjustments to dishes. On my latest visit I tried the mussels and was blown away. I’ve always thought that a kitchen can be judged based on their mussels and these did not disappoint. Both the ambience and menu have been perfectly curated to offer an exceptional dining experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend &27 for date night, special occasion dinner, or just for some casual happy hour drinks and bites. Thanks to the team for their commitment to great food and hospitality. I’ll be happy to return. Read more
My wife, and I were here on June 30th for our 19th anniversary. From the moment we arrived we were greeted and sat at a table, even though we were a half hour early. We were promptly attended to with menus and waters and given plenty of time to go ... through the menu. Did not feel rushed at all. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with some modern music playing in the background. Very romantic. We ordered our drinks. She had a rum based cocktail (Barbados Rum) I went with the Somersby apple cider. Very refreshing. Our meal consisted of the bread & butter board. Awesome! Was not expecting the incredible presentation. Very flavorful and would be good for 4 people. She had a cream based fettuccini. I forget what it was called but it had a truffle oil and no protein. She added a chicken leg to it. Very flavorful and chicken was moist and tender. I had Linguine Pescatore which was also delicious. Noodles were cooked perfectly with plenty of seafood and I ordered it with a cream sauce. Finally we finished with the New York Cheesecake. Wow! Presentation is everything and they do it right here. Nick was our server and executed his job flawlessly. Thanks for the great service Nick. Thanks for the wonderful evening. We will be back for weekend brunch which I’m told is also incredible. Can’t wait! Read more
It was mine and my husband's first dinner together in Edmonton. The service was impeccable, and the food was divine! We had an appetizer of cauliflower bits with garlic aioli and marinara dipping sauce, then the lasagna, finishing off the meal with a slice of cheesecake to share. Although they ... didn't have my husband's first choice in a stout beer, the recommendation was well received! The 2 drinks I ordered were lovely as well! Read more
