Very disappointed, and working to withdraw from a program I was accepted into due to there being no courses for the program available for fall and winter 2024. I've paid $500 with nothing to apply to. And good luck getting credit for any previous classes you've taken, you'll spend more ... times jumping through hoops trying to figure things out. I'm sad that this is how it all went, back to the drawing board. Read more
I am deeply disappointed with the restrictive policies enforced by MacEwan University regarding student access to campus facilities. As paying students, we find it unacceptable to be abruptly ejected from the premises by security personnel, especially during weekdays when access to campus resources is crucial for academic success. The arbitrary 11 ... pm curfew imposed on students severely limits our ability to utilize campus facilities for studying, group projects, and extracurricular activities. It's disheartening to invest significant amounts of tuition fees into an institution that fails to prioritize the well-being and academic needs of its students. Furthermore, the manner in which security personnel enforce this curfew is intrusive. Being followed out of the building by security guards creates an unwelcoming and uncomfortable environment for students who are simply trying to make the most of their educational experience. It's particularly frustrating to see other universities, such as the University of Calgary, implement more student-friendly policies. For instance, they have a building that stays open 24 hours during exam times, and regular hours extend until 2-4 am. This demonstrates that flexible access hours are feasible and beneficial for student success. I urge MacEwan University to reconsider its policies regarding student access to campus facilities and prioritize the needs of its student body. Implementing more flexible access hours and fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment would undoubtedly enhance the overall student experience and contribute to the university's reputation as an institution dedicated to academic excellence and student success. This building is amazing. It’s been around for a while and at the time it was built it was a college but now is a university. The university is attended by many students, hard to imagine but hey that’s what it is here for. I personally have ... not attended but I work downtown and have passed through this building many times over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. Read more
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your college yesterday. My initial appointment was booked through email under the name C…C., but the student who was rated by another email hair was A…R. I am not sure which is her name. A black hair ... and was wearing it in two short pigtails. Firstly, this was my third time getting my hair colored at MC College. Although I haven't been completely satisfied with the color in the past, the students who worked on my hair were always courteous and professional. Unfortunately, this was not the case yesterday. From the beginning, A…seemed very rushed and repeatedly mentioned wanting to go home early. She asked me three times about the time and insisted on finishing quickly so she could leave. When applying the dye, she immediately took me to rinse it off, without allowing the proper processing time. I had previously done a strand test, which required a 15-minute wait, but A…skipped this step, resulting in my hair not absorbing the color at all. During the wash, she spilled water on me, soaking my clothes. Her hasty and careless manner continued throughout the appointment. She applied the dye in a rush, getting it on my face, and washed my hair with cold water, leaving dye on my neck and ears. When I got home and washed my hair again, the color continued to wash out, leaving my hair the same color it was before. This experience was particularly upsetting as it happened on my birthday. I spent from 10 AM to around 3 PM at the salon, without being offered even a glass of water. I understand that A…might have been hungry and tired, but as a paying customer, I expected better treatment. The most frustrating part was at the end when I requested curls after the blow-dry. A…told me it would waste her time. I find this attitude unacceptable. As a consumer, I should not feel like a burden to the student. Fortunately, a teacher stepped in to curl my hair, but Aaron left without taking me to the front desk to pay. I am extremely disappointed with how I was treated and would like to understand if this is the standard behavior expected from your students towards customers. This experience has left me questioning the quality of training and professionalism at MC College. Read more
