Brit’s Fish and Chips - Edmonton, Alberta

My partner and I had an amazing bf lunch here today! For once I didn’t have time to take a photo of my deal before I absolutely devoured it. Will be coming back for sure! YUM 😋

Closest to proper fish and chips so far in Canada, but still a long way off. Chips were far too crispy, fish batter wasn't correct. Seemed more like British cuisine catered for a Canadian audience rather than authentic British food. Portions were good. Pleased with guidance on gluten-free options, ... but contrary to website, battered sausage not gluten-free. Decor was a little odd. I had my first fish in chips in London, UK. I was weirdly craving it again and was getting a lot it receipe suggestions in my social media feed. Googled this place and found it to be in a walking distance. Evelyn served us and I think she’s the owner ... too. The food was lovely and exactly what we were expecting. Will not go back. I wonder if there is new owners, staff or management??? It had been awhile since I been, but my go to for fish. I had cod 3 piece and when I broke apart a piece, there was a couple of long white worms, they were about 2 ... inches long. We looked it up and sure enough it is worms. The coleslaw was different, not very good, couldn't eat it. Fries were not the same either. Definitely not a Brits meal. Read more

My wife and I went in the early afternoon and it was our first time to try the food at Brits. We had heard a lot of good things about the fish and chips and we were not disappointed! We ordered The Works platter that includes 2 ... pieces each of cod and haddock, fries, onion rings and 2 sides. The fish was really good, although I couldn't really tell much of a flavor difference between the cod and haddock. The fries and onion rings were also very good. The portions are nice and big so we had some take home. Since everything is deep fried, there is a lot of grease and I'm glad one of the sides we ordered was coleslaw to help breakup the oily flavor that builds up.
