I stopped in here after eating Pho for lunch at Co Do Hue next door. I enjoy a bakery as much as the next guy so I am always interested in trying some place new. Manila sweets is a low key no non sense bakery, just delicious food. I had one of their ... Empanadas and it was delicious, nice filling and a great crust. I definetly will have to come back and try to make it home with a couple, as i ate mine in the car. I feel like it would be super delicious with some siracha hot sauce. I also bought some of their tarts for my mother. She told me they were amazing and she really loved them. I had a tart and cookie later on myself and enjoyed them. This review is long overdue, I had the female baker make a cake for my daughter-in-law’s baby shower-I had seen the photographs of her work on the Facebook marketplace, but so often photos are one thing and the actual product delivered is another… So I was very particular on the ... phone when I was ordering; specifying what I wanted - I was so focused on making sure it would be done nicely and without any errors… I kept trying to get her to guarantee it would look as good as the picture… I think I was a bit of pill lol. Her responses were patient and good-natured, assuring me that it would be beautifully done. When I picked it up and set it up for the shower- I was not disappointed at all, in fact, I was completely delighted. The cake looked so pretty and the taste and freshness were also perfect. I learned from my discussion with the gal, that she is self taught, and takes great pride in putting out beautiful cakes. The only problem I have with Manila Sweets is that everything smells so wonderful that I have a hard time deciding on what to order. I recommend coming here at least once. Why only once? I'm a regular!!! 💞💞💞 Being greeted by my name when I come in is appreciated from a small town girl. Everything I've tried is delicious. Especially the banana bread, and the cupcakes, seriously the Best butter cream icing I've ever had!!! And they take special requests.
