Came with a friend during YYC EXP. The Soft Shell Crab Club what what drew me in. That and everything else as part of the set menu was delicious. From the Seafood Chowder, White Chocolate Goat Cheesecake, and Maple Pecan Pie to what I came for was very enjoyable. The ... server was pleasant and the restaurant has a nice ambiance with plenty of light flooding in which I like. Suggest checking this restaurant out if looking for some seafood for dinner. I'd like to start by praising our waitress, who was absolutely fantastic, especially considering it was her first day on the job! Unfortunately, I can't say the same for our meal. It's been seven years since I last ate here, and it seems the quality of the food really took a ... nosedive. The oysters had a distinctly 'fishy' smell—not in a fresh seafood kind of way. Then came our main dishes. We ordered the steak and lobster, but the lobster also smelled suspiciously fishy, and the steaks were so tough, it felt like a workout just to cut them. The peppercorn gravy tasted bizarre, almost like it was seasoned with a dash of soap. As for my husband’s scalloped potatoes, they looked like they had been sliced and left out to turn brown before being cooked. The flavor was bland, but edible—still, the unappealing color was hard to overlook. Sadly, this visit was disappointing enough that we won't be returning. Read more
Delicious and fresh ingredients! Service and staff were awesome and very professional. We were there tonight for the set menu 3 course dinner - it was SO good! We will definitely be back to try items off their regular menu. Highly, highly recommend!
I recently stopped in for lunch at the Big Fish & Open Range. I used to come to both establishments more frequently many years ago. Now both restaurants have consolidated into one space (The Big Fish) side, whilst still offering both menus to peruse and order from. The space ... in very open and warm. We were welcomed with a delicious amuse-bouche featuring a prawn on a tostado. We then ordered a couple of appies to start. The calamari and steak bites. The steak bites were actually quite tasty, seasoned well and cooked to our liking (medium rare). The calamari was mediocre I had expected a better plate from a seafood restaurant. For my main I ordered the tenderloin, Chicago style medium rare. I must admit that it was underwhelming. The cut of meat itself seemed mediocre. I’ve had better steaks from this restaurant in the past. The mushroom ragú that accompanied the steak was a little too sweet for my liking. My friend ordered the fish and chips, but subbed the chips for salad. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal. All of the dishes were platted well with a touch of flare which I appreciate. Although my meal didn’t meet the standards that were previously set by this establishment. I will be back for dinner sometime in the future. I’ll chalk up this experience, to an off day. Read more
Brunch brunch brunch going to brunch for as 10+ years. Always have great time and perfect for family and friends visiting. Food drinks and treats always on point. Menu chances with chefs to some extent and always good features. So, you can have lots of choices ... to try new things. Notes the bread and jam chanced a few years back. Still great but could maybe few new breads. Brunch =10 out of 10 Dinner is not the same as brunch. Totally different experience and food lineup. It's a good times but something never hits right for me personally. I feel the fish is never the star of the dish. I grew up on the ocean, so I got some high expectations from a seafood place. Dinner = 6.5 out of 10 Give it a try. This could be your new spot ! Read more
