Alumni Sandwiches - Calgary, Alberta

We have been hearing good things about Alumni Sandwiches, so it's about time we eat here. The atmosphere is like a dinner with a good, trendy bar area. The washrooms are quite clean! We ordered the Dagwood, the Chorizo Torta (without refried beans), the Kids Cheeseburger (ask for Kids Menu as ... it's not openly advertised), the Crispy Mozzarella, the Fried Artichokes, the Fries, and the Potato Chips (no sides are included with sandwiches). My wife also ordered a Prickly Melon to drink. Out of the sandwiches, the Chorizo Torta was a big winner! Even though I ordered the Dagwood, I sure wished I chose this instead. It's perfectly balanced and doesn't feel heavy. The freshness of the veggies contrasted with the chorizo meat. The Dagwood was sizeable and yummy. The deli meat was expected. I did wish the bacon was more crispy. Out of the remaining dishes, the Potato Chips were a step above all. It's thin, crispy, yet not oil drenched. These blew away the fries by a mile. Get these! my second time at alumni, and I would say this time was so much better than the first~ though it was a spontaneous stop for my friends and I as we needed to take refuge from the rain, but definitely did not disappoint 💝 Portions are super generous, could easily be two ... meals lol… we were so full. My all time favourite is the wrap up veggies… imagine a really hearty salad in a crispy shell- co that’s exactly what it is. It’s rare I feel I can rate five stars on all fronts. Alumni ticks all the boxes. Waitress was incredibly friendly and fun to talk to. The sandwiches are so flavourful and thought out. The attention to detail in the seasonings and toppings are incredible. Way beyond your standard sandwich ... shop. They could honestly charge more. The portion is massive as well. One sandwich felt more like two. The parm fries were so yummy. Highly recommend doing a side of pickles and eating the pickles with the fries and the aioli sauce. Building was clean and inviting.
