Co-op Midtown Market - Calgary, Alberta

Came there to order a sandwich at 6pm. The sign says that sandwich bar works till 7pm. The machine charged me for my order of two sandwiches. And then I asked a woman working there if someone is making the order. She said “No, nobody is working there” Well then change ... your signs, guys. Had a very pleasant time at this co-op location, I don’t shop at co-op but was really craving some cupcakes and co-op midtown is the closet one at the time to me. It’s a little over priced as I said before I don’t usually shop here but the friendly employee ... named journey in the bakery made me feel better about the items I bought, It’s locally sourced and it’s made right in the store she told me it’s baked every morning and told me her favourite treats were the cheese cake and cheese bread they make in store I tried the cheese cake and the cheese bread also the sundae cupcakes and they were really good a little over priced but worth it. Otherwise the overprice the employee and the friendliness it was a very good experience I might come back again to grab some more cheese bread. Read more

Clean well laid out store. Staff are friendly. Unfortunately, of the 9 items, I price checked against superstore; 8 were 20-80% more expensive, and one was the same price. Bananas were the same. The items marked as on sale at co-op were 20% more expensive than superstore. The ones not ... on sale were worse. Also, prices sometimes include a price per kg, sometimes price per 100g, and sometimes only per lb, or per item. Superstore always shows price / 100g on everything, making it easier to compare. Store is clean and well maintained. Location and parking is great. However, If you plan on having lunch at the self serve food bar, it has gone down hill since I was there last. Some items are grossly overpriced. Like the Hawaiian Poke bowl, mostly filled with rice at $16.99 ... is a total ripoff. I would still shop there for groceries, but eat somewhere else. Due to a big homeless problem in the area, bathroom access is by key only. Read more

They used to have a big upstairs sitting area but now there is only the space by the deli and every single day some deli employee takes the best spot and leaves their junk on it. Don't think it's right they take this best seat after removing public access to ... the upstairs entirely. Plenty of better seats for employees only there. Leave that one alone. Edit: thanks to the owner for the reply, but I have been back a couple times since and I'm here right now and the space is still blocked off with greasy paper towels, a clipboard, the same empty coffee cup and water bottle, and a little barricade made out of adverts to keep people away.
