Salt & Pepper Mexican Restaurante - Calgary, Alberta

So my husband and I decided to go for dinner at this restaurant last week. We ordered the Taco Platter for us to share. Firstly, we weren't pleased with how long the platter took to come (it was an hour and a half to be exact). When the food finally ... came it was good, not amazing or anything, pretty average. We ate, finished our drinks and asked for the bill. When it came, we saw that we were charged for two taco platters instead of one. Thinking it was just an innocent mistake, we brought it to the waiter's attention and were then told that because we shared the platter between the two of us, we would be charged for two. So we were charged $50.00 instead of $25.00 for tacos that were average at best. Nowhere on the menu does it state that if you share this taco platter you will be charged for each person - I tried to include a photo but it's not uploading. Was excited to try a new Mexican joint. Was disappointed. I agree with other reviews these are not real Mexican tacos. It is tasteless. Corn tortillas are dry. Meat was not fresh and not to mention the price. Too expensive for small tacos(taquitos). Only good was the nachos and the ... service was polite. Service was great. The young male server was very polite and attentive. Not bad on the eyes either. The food was mediocre as Mexican food is valued in my opinion. While flavourful, and tasty, it didn't taste very fresh. We were fortunate enough to be sitting at the spot closest to ... the kitchen. I made note to my friends joining me that when I ordered the beef taco, I didn't hear a lot of searing or frying. Rather, I hear a LOT of microwave doors opening and closing. On our visit, we came with a large group and yet the hospitality was very good. They were quick and friendly, and our glasses never reached the bottom. The food is authentic, as in not Tex-Mex. Home-made salsa, guacamole, and spicy pickled veggies were all very good. Favorite of ... the day- the chicken quesadilla. While this was not the premier mexican food place, it was definitely worth my money. We will be back. Read more

It has been over a year since I have been back. Well it has gotten worse a lot worse as the food is very poor quality. I will never go back to this place again. Such a shame because my previous review was acceptable 1. Chips: Not fresh and are ... prepackaged stale chips. 2. Salsa: Poor quality tomatoes, Watery, No coriander/cilantro, Old tasteless onions 3. Guacamole: Very bland, seemed old or had been mashed days ago. 4. Cola: Tastes like no-name brand. 5. Burritos: Also Tasteless and wrap was chewy and it cracked in some places because of staleness. 6. Margareta: Extremely sweet and was not good 7.
