Baladi Shawarma - Calgary, Alberta

Always a great experience, me and 6 of my friends came in. It was only my second time here and they remembered me. The food was amazing once again and the staff was super friendly. They gave us complimentary Baklava! 10/10 all around

Edit June 2024 I placed a catering order with Baladi just recently for their Party for 5 package, which includes chicken, beef, rice, salad, garlic potatoes, and baklava. I called in the order and was told it could be ready within 30 minutes. To be safe, I said I'd pick it ... up in 45 minutes. The staff was very friendly and assured me it would be ready on time. When I arrived, everything was prepared, and it looked amazing. However, during our small family gathering, we found that both the chicken and beef were dry. This was a common complaint among my family members and quite disappointing, especially since we've had great experiences dining in at Baladi. While the dine-in experience has always been excellent, the takeout didn’t meet our expectations. Based on this, I think it's best to enjoy their food at the restaurant rather than ordering out. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting, and we were greeted warmly by the staff. Despite the lunch rush, we were lucky to snag a table in the clean and cozy restaurant. Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the shawarmas! I opted for the chicken beef shawarma, while my wife went for the chicken shawarma paired with a Greek salad on the side. Each bite was a burst of flavour; the shawarmas were impeccably fresh, generously loaded with toppings, and crafted with care. It's safe to say they rank among the best we've tasted in the city! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch experience at Baladi Shawarma. Its proximity to our house ensures that we'll be frequent visitors. Buddy told me about this place, so I checked it out. He was right; this place may be busy, but the food is worth the wait. Came out with a beef and chicken shawarma and it was still nice and warm from the 20m ride back to my place.

Authentic and truly delicious middle-eastern flavours, and easily one of the best shawarma spots in Calgary! The food is super fresh and is made to order. This can cause a 15- 20 min wait time, but it’s totally worth it. Their portions are generous too. Perfect experience. The food was exceptional, the service was perfect, the portions were amazing, and the place was packed. We went in to order, then made the decision to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the sounds of the kitchen, the smells of everything cooking, and the buzz of the atmosphere. We ordered, and ... the food was made promptly. Now you need to know there was a line up when we got there and a line up when we left and it got much busier while we were there eating. Even though it was that packed, when we were eating my son was waiting for his fries to cool off and they saw him not eating and brought him additional things to make his meal more enjoyable.
