Shawarma Palace - Calgary, Alberta

Ordered 3 beef platter via skip the dishes.2/3 of them arrived without any sauces and I paid for extra sweet sauce. ☹️ The whole thing just taste bland. Overall, disappointed that I spent $70 today. Will never order again. Shawarma ain’t shawarma without the sauce.

Portions here are good, taste is good. Long lines are a negative, took me 25 mins to get it. The service is whatever. 4 stars unless they increase staff there and reduce wait times.

This is a gem in Calgary if you are looking for typical shawarma from the Middle East. As a Colombian trying food in Canada for the first time and being from Barranquilla that has a big influence from Lebanese and Turkish immigrants, I feel this food is so close to ... the taste and flavor of the dishes that they prepared in my hometown. The garlic sauce and the chicken are an amazing combination. The only request that I can make is to speed up a bit more the preparation process at the line because it took around 15 minutes in the line between you waiting in line and at the counter. if I could send a video of the wrap I would but it won’t allow me. DO NOT COME HERE. I picked up a large chicken shawarma from this location when I come home I see that all my sauce had leaked onto the second paper, which was okay cause ... that could happen. When I open the wrap I see that both sides of the wrap are open and none of it was folded correctly. I also came in at 11:30pm, so I wouldn’t be able to go back as I live 20 minutes away from this location. I called the location when I arrived home at 11:50pm and told them the situation, they told me to drive back and give them the wrap and they would make a new one if I had driven back I would have arrived there at around 12:10 am. That had made no sense to me as they close at 12, the woman on the phone who spoke very rudely to me then told me then they can’t do anything about that. What kind of customer service is that. Tonight, we had a bad experience at this location. They weren’t very busy tonight but the first person that served us is the new guy from the last visit. Seems like he’s been training for a while but still unsure about what he’s doing. We always ask for extra rice, ... and he puts so little, so cheap. The portion of meats we got tonight is terribly dissapointing, you want us to scrap on 20 pieces of tiny meat per scoop of rice? They cheaped out on sauces and don’t seem to understand what “extra” means. We never have any problems coming to shawarma palace, at any location.. but I don’t get why some people cheap out on food when we’re literally paying almost $20. The pita bread fell out the bag as it was not wrapped properly. An Indian lady who usually does the till gives us the dirtiest look every time we visit. We’re regulars and we love shawarma palace, but tonight was just a deal breaker. Food overall is great like usual, but service and portioning is not ideal. Read more
