So, all in all, dining at Daruma was a blast. Authentic Japanese food, a chef who's got serious skills and passion - it all made for a meal I won't forget anytime soon. Highly recommend chicken karage, they are to die for! If you're up for a killer Japanese food ... experience, you've gotta check out Daruma. Read more
Cool little place. Food was very affordable. Their lunch specials costs from $13-17 depending on what you order. Food was good, pricing was excellent for food cost nowadays, I just wish the portions were a bit bigger.
Awesome place for authentic japanese food. The takoyaki was crispy with generous sized octopus. The agedashi tofu wasn't bland like most places, same with the udon soup. For sushi I'd recommend the dragon roll. Nice cozy hidden gem for Japanese cuisine.
Not sure why this place is rated $$ for prices, the prices definitely are not $$ especially compared to the quality and size of the portions. Price wise it's more of a $$$$ while the sushi and sashimi are small and thin. Food quality was ok; nothing special to be honest ... and there are many places that are better in quality and portion sizes. $25 for 7 piece sushi and $29 for 7 pieces of very small and thin sashimi. You'd expect for $29, the sashimi slices would be thick - they are not. Rolls are overpriced and small as well. Service was great though, no complaints whatsoever but we were also the only table from 6pm to 730pm. The atmosphere is fine. My only complaint here is that the ventilation is poor so as soon as you walk in, all you can smell is a smokey kitchen. Definitely do not recommend wearing your best outfit here as you will need to wash as soon as you get home. Read more
I had lunch at Daruma on Mon afternoon and it was very affordable. I liked how their Bento lunch box was customizable to your liking! I had lunch box with sushi and tempura. It comes with rice, salad, miso soup, fruit, and protein of your choice. The price varies depends on ... which items you choose for the bento(you get to choose 2 proteins). Tempura was delicious! It came with 2 shrimp tempura sans some assorted veggie tempuras. Sushi was ok, fish was really cold. I added some individual sushi, my ikura was super cold and seaweed was soggy. When I visited, they were temporary out of ramen, I’d like to try ramen next time. Their food is home style, price is affordable. The atmosphere of the place is also home like, it is such a cute Japanese restaurant. I’d recommend if you live close by! Read more
