Reviews for Rea’s Italian Cucina in Calgary, Alberta
came here to celebrate my sister’s engagement. we were able to reserve a table the same day, although it actually wasn’t too busy on a monday evening. the server did spill our water everywhere and i would’ve been soaked had i not had my raincoat on, and she also got some ... sauce on my sis at the end of the night when they were cleaning up, but i do understand it was an accident our appetizers were the mussels and calamari. the mussels were so good, we loved the sauce and they gave us bread with butter and we dipped that in there! the calamari was not crispy but i think that’s the italian style. for my main i had one of the veals with the pasta side. it was delicious!! the cognac sauce with the mushrooms went so well together. although, i tried my brothers rose tortellini and i wish i had gotten that instead - it was the best!! guess i’ll just have to come back again! for dessert we had tiramisu and this caramel flan like cake. overall, i’d definitely try out this restaurant again! Quite good Italian food in NE Calgary. The bread was hot and soft, and enjoyed the calimari and mussels. I had the tortellini zia teresa - the veal in rosé sauce was delicious. Dessert hit the right spot.
One of Calgarys best kept secrets! We went on a weekday and this place was almost packed, which says a lot. Starting with the service, our server was top notch and she provided us with some excellent recommendations. I asked her what was better, the mussels or the calamari, and I ... appreciate how she went all the back to the kitchen to ensure the mussels were fresh before providing an answer. The vibe of this place is like an upscale Italian family restaurant. We got the mussels, Fusilli Ferraro and Fettuccine Pescatore. The portions for the pasta were also very generous (we only ate half and both packed lunch the next day). If you’re budget conscious and not huge eaters, one appy + one pasta would do the trick! Will definitely be back soon. Read more
A wonderful restaurant with friendly staff offering rustic homestyle Italian dishes. Unpretentious comfort food that is prepared well and very delicious. The house wine is also much better than we thought! From what I can see I believe the appetizers and pasta are the most popular options here.
We called the place asking if we needed reservation and they suggested we do and glad we did! Parking was great too, the location had a lot of spots. The staff were very welcoming and we were sat almost instantly. There were complimentary fresh buns and our orders came quickly and ... everything were fresh and delicious! Everything from service, food, and ambiance were phenomenal! The service made sure everything was to our liking. Definitely a hidden gem! Read more
