We have done two classes with Ruby's kitchen and enjoyed them both immensely! We have made a variety of meals, and found the recipes to be amazing. Ruby is a great teacher and made the class lots of fun! We will definitely be back!

Ruby was a fantastic teacher and made me think I could make this meal night after night and not screw it up! The class ... size was perfect and all the ingredients/utensils were steps away. Each couple has their own set of supplies (hot plate/pans/pots etc) so there is never any waiting or sitting around. To top it off, Ruby lets you bring your own beer or wine! I bought a Living Social deal for a three-course cooking class at Ruby's and I think it was one of the very best decisions I ever made! I have always had trouble replicating the flavours in Indian cuisine and was intrigued with the idea of getting some inside info. My ... husband and I decided to attend the Butter Chicken, Rice and Naan class on a Saturday night. The kitchen is set up really well, with metal stations with a hot plate and all the bowls/pots you may need. The ingredients were all around us and we were all provided with recipes so we could replicate the dishes at home. Ruby is an absolute delight. Her instructions and tips were great, and she was also a very fun woman. The naan was really easy to make... surprisingly! And it was absolutely delicious. The butter chicken was honestly to die for. It had so much flavour and it was nice to learn all the secret ingredients. I have since went and bought them all at Superstore, but Ruby also sells everything you may need there for reasonable prices. The method that Ruby taught us for the basmati rice is unreal! It's soooooo good!! Especially with the 4 C's!! I will never ever make normal rice again. Overall the experience was one of the best date nights we've ever had. To top it all off you can also bring your own beer or wine, which was a nice benefit. I look forward to taking another class soon... and I've made the butter chicken at home since and it was to die for... my husband actually said it was the best Indian dish he's ever had in any restaurant!! We had our second cooking class with Ruby and Rahim at Ruby's kitchen May 25. The course taught use how to make butter chicken, rice and naan bread. We were really excited about the butter chicken, and as excellent as that was, it was the rice and naan ... bread that blew our minds. Ruby brings such passion, comfort and love to the experience, we left energized, educated and wanting to share our new found talents with all of our friends. Once the dinner was ready, we all sat down to enjoy our efforts and it was truly amazing. The interesting part is there is now a new bar set for authentic indian food in Calgary in our minds. I bought this deal from Living Social and invited another couple to join us. We had a great time cooking Kuku Paka, which is an east African Coconut Chicken Curry dish, Basmati rice( the drainage method) and soft and delicious Naan bread. Ruby was a most knowledgeable and patient instructor ... whose passion for cooking shone through the lesson. The food was great and there was a fun and relaxed atmosphere in the kitchen. All and all a very enjoyable evening and one that we plan to repeat again. I think this would be a great night out for a birthday or anniversary celebration. Two thumbs up! Read more
