June 16, 2024 Our visit back to Joey's, was great. They waitress was equally as great, making our visit there enjoyable. _______________ Initial review: The food was great and the service was just as great. It'll be even greater once the dining room opens and take out becomes an option, rather than an obligation
Great portion sizes, came out quickly, hot and crispy. We came in and were sat right away. We had the Sunday special, good value for money and was tasty. we will definitely be coming back👍🏻
I was excited to go back to this restaurant having been here many times as a child, but I can honestly say this is the worst fish and chips I've had in my life. I'm sure the owner/staff are nice people. Unfortunately, it seems that whoever is running this joint (20yrs ... later) is completely disorganized and does not prioritize the food they are selling whatsoever, nor the service. Based on other reviews going back years, the short staffing is an ongoing problem The fact that the door won't close fully without being forced and a constant cold draft comes into the waiting area should have been enough of an indication to not spend your money here The fries taste like they came out of an oven along with being slightly stale. For instance, the fries at Costco you can buy and bake in the oven taste better and are far more satisfying The fish was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. It's 75% batter and 25% fish (I'm not sure it's even fish that was inside some of it, just this chewy textured white stuff, see attached photo) The portions are TINY. I'm talking the size of maybe a small chicken strip from Wendy's (probably even less actual meat to be honest) and mostly hardened batter with a texture I've never seen the likes of. More than half of it I had to spit out. I've never encountered anything like this at a seafood restaurant On top of that, the restaurant itself was a complete disaster. 1 server, a room full of people coming and going (because they weren't being served), and a lot of people leaving with unhappy looks on their faces. If you're going to run a promotion to bolster your business and attract new customers, and this is the result, I wouldn't be surprised to see this location close for good. I'm honestly shocked they're still in business. You could tell by the look on the customers faces who were leaving that they most likely wouldn't be coming back I'm sure the owner will reply to this and attempt to rectify the situation with some free food in exchange for an updated review. Don't bother. You'll have enough complaints on your hands at the end of this that attempting to make up for it will only result in a worse outcome. Please take this advice, fix things, and then reach out when you're prepared to deliver! (If you so wish). Read more
This was not the Joey’s of old. I remember the brightly lit, in and out style of Joey’s, those days are gone. This was softly lit, had booths and invited you to stay, talk and enjoy good food. We were there for a birthday so taking photos was hard without faces. The ... good luck cats at the front were cool though. Next and full disclosure, we are vegetarian. This Joey’s has options. The Buddha Bowl and Bangkok Bowls with crispy tofu were fresh, filled and friggin delicious. Our fish eaters at the table gave the usual thumbs up. Fries were chunky and the Cesar salads with chicken went super fast. Our server Sean was mindful, polite and let us celebrate our friend’s day. Thanks Joey’s! Read more
Haven't been to Joey's for a while, but the fish portions are halved of what they use to be, and they no longer give coleslaw. If it wasn't for all you can eat, I would have been quite disappointed. I guess with all costs going up, they have ... to save somewhere. Service was good. Read more
