My friend and I recently dined at South Silk Road Chinese Restaurant, and it was an incredible experience. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the exceptional service and warm ambiance. The food was absolutely amazing, bursting with authentic flavors that transported us straight to China. Every ... dish was a delight, and the entire dining experience felt genuinely authentic. The buckwheat tea was also amazing! A special shoutout to Samantha for her outstanding service! If you're looking for a fantastic meal and a great atmosphere, don't miss out on South Silk Road. Highly recommended! Read more
Came here around CNY with family. Had to make reservation because every single chinese restaurant in calgary was packed. Food: flavors of all the dishes were good and closer the authentic chinese taste. My only complaint is that portion size of the meat dish (beef with tofu) is small. The spicy ... fish is made with basa filled and not what I expect (actual thinly filets of fish). Service is....better than avg chinese restaurant but not the most attentive either. Highly depends on which staff you get (yes ive been here good few times). Things I recommend to try: 气锅鸡( chicken soup),any items with their 腊肉 (preserved meat), their Okra is great for ppl that can't eat spicy, pork ear, the rose cake and taro cake, beef eith tofu, wild Mushroom dish. Parking is free (3hrs) if u register at desk. Read more
If you're yearning for a restaurant specializing in "North American" Chinese look elsewhere! If your taste buds are craving an authentic Chinese culinary experience, then you've stumbled upon the perfect spot. From the moment we stepped in, the staff greeted us with genuine warmth and happiness. Seeking their expertise, we asked ... for recommendations, and they enthusiastically guided us through their menu, emphasizing the traditional essence of their dishes. Every dish they presented us with was a symphony of flavors, each ingredient harmonizing perfectly with the others. The spices were perfectly balanced, accentuating the rich depth of each dish, and best of all the food arrived promptly. This dining experience left a lasting impression, and I'm already planning my next visit. In a world where authenticity is often sacrificed for mass appeal, it's refreshing to find a restaurant that stays true to its roots. If you're in search of an unforgettable culinary journey, do yourself a favor and pay this establishment a visit. You won't be disappointed. Read more
The restaurant was located at the west fringe of downtown, so parking was a bit of a concern. We had to park along the 10th avenue outside of COOP. When we got into the restaurant, we waited at the door for 5 minutes and no one talked to ... us. We had to find our friends in one of the rooms to seat ourselves. Finally we got into the room, we started to wonder how could we got service. Sure enough, every time we needed to order, got more tea refill, needed more napkins or chopsticks, we had to get out of the room to find someone. The sevice button in the room was not working. As for the food, the duck was a bit salty, the beef on sticks was dry and the chicken with red chill was full of chilly and not much chicken. On the positive note, the beef with tofu, the fried rice and the vegetable were above average. Read more
Their dishes were better than grilled skewers. Ribs were little bit dry, the other dishes were petty good. Highly recommend their fried bacon.
