We ordered a number of items. The dumplings were very very doughy. Way too thick and heavy dough covering a small amount of stuffing. A definite fail on the dumplings. The chicken chow main crispy noodle dish tasted ok, but had only small amount of chicken and way way too ... much huge chunks of cabbage. They should call it the crisp noodle cabbage dish with some chicken. The dish/container was only filled 2/3’s full. There are places just down the block that fill their food containers completely full, I mean full to the top! Not 1/2 or 2/3’s full. I won’t be eating here again. Everything was well made, not a single item ordered had a flaw. Chicken balls were crispy. Spring rolls were cooked perfectly and tasted great. Vegetable chow main was great. Will eat from Pearl again. Would give them 5 stars, but nothing is perfect. Four and a half for sure.

Beef chow mein. Price was good, only had about 6-7 small strips of beef. The rest of dish was noodles and corn. I will order somewhere else next time.

There is good and bad thing about this place. GOOD. Delivery. Came fast and hot. Everything is in plastic bags. So no leaking. All containers are full. BAD. Food little over cooked. Chicken balls. Hard. And very little chicken inside each ball. Tons of batter. Bbq pork. Had veggys on bottom. To make ... look like your getting more than you are. If i am paying $12 for meat. I want all meat. I've been coming to Pearl Express for over a decade. I always love the food here. It's flavourful and good value for money. However on 1 May 2018 the business changed ownership. Today (6 June 2018) was my first visit since the management change and I ... have to say I am very disappointed. First the good stuff. The service was fast, the food was hot and fresh, and the takeout containers were filled to top with colourful vegetables. So why only two stars? Read on. The food that used to be so flavourful now lacks flavour almost completely, and the sauces were watery. And even though the takeout containers were filled to the top there was hardly any meat. I ordered two chicken dishes and a beef dish, but the pieces of meat could be counted on one hand. There was a ton of vegetables, but I ordered meat dishes, I expected meat. So, after more than a decade of being a faithful customer of this takeout restaurant I have to find a new place. Does anyone have any suggestion? Read more
