Leo Fu’s - Calgary, Alberta

Less than 20 people in restaurant for lunch with everyone having buffet. We were table of 12 and buffet was always half empty. When mentioning to only lady working front was sooo rude saying it was coming etc etc. Never have I been spoken to that way before. Wow. Been ... going there for years but heard they are now under nee management. Customer service was the worst I have experienced in a long time. She was awful. Never did show up with the soup she offered. Then argued we still owed for another pop yet on proper bills. Restaurant obviously cannot accommodate groups! Other table had 5 people taking buffet. Food itself was good but is it worth being disrespected like that. Plenty of good Chinese restaurants in the city who would want our business. Read more

Leo Fu's has become our go-to spot for decent Chinese. After experiencing so many disappointments with other surrounding establishments, we were thrilled to find Leo Fu's! (I don't know about you - but splurging for really bad takeout sure leaves a bad taste in my mouth!!) Today is mother's day and ... we decided to order mama's favorite - Leo Fu, via Uber Eats. When the order was delivered, we were missing a dish (the only dish my 7yr old will eat) so there was about to be a big upset in the house. I usually would handle this by swearing a whole bunch, make my kid some KD and take it up with Uber Eats, while waiting a week for a refund; but I decided to give the restaurant a call on the off chance they could send the missing dish out on another delivery run. Turns out they were more than happy to rectify the situation -finding another driver to bring us the missing item, and they even threw in an extra dish (Thanks for the sweet and sour pork btw, It was excellent!) Takeaway (pick up) order tonight. Had read a lot of good reviews. Big order (over 12 different dishes) as we were a large group and we also wanted to try a lot of dishes. Conclusion: disappointed. 1. dishes tasted the same - chicken cashew nuts and kung pao chicken ... even looked exactly a like. 2. too much (deep fried) breading on ginger beef & dry ribs & sweet & sour pork. 3. many dishes drenched in sweet sickly sauce. 4. bbq pork fried rice & chicken fried rice had little bbq pork & chicken, respectively. I’m not one to complain but I need to. I ordered the general tso thru SkipTheDishes. It was the worst chicken I’ve ever tried. I’m almost positive it must have been a day or two old and was microwaved before they sent it out. It was mushy, soggy and old ... looking/tasting. It was all mushed and stuck together and tasted awful. This place has zero quality control. Also the chow mein noodles have shrimp in them but it’s not specified in the menu on SkipTheDishes. My family had been going here for years and love the food. The pan fried dumplings are the best, ginger beef is great, and mixed vegetable dishes are good value compared to most chinese restaurants where they just load it with celery filler. Service is good, it is a nice ... quiet atmosphere for a meal. Even though I feel they should have some background music here as it gets a bit too quiet sometimes, I am still giving it 5/5 because the food and service are well worth it. I would definitely recommend eating here and am surprised it isn't super crowded all the time; must be the "hole in the wall" location... but sometimes those are the best places! Read more
