Buffet Yangtze - Calgary, Alberta

We went for lunch here based on reviews........ it cost $25 and there was hardly any options there was no lemon chicken or orange chicken or really chicken in that matter other than the tiny little overcooked chicken wings as you can see on my plate they didn't even have potstickers, ... the Chow Mein was so slimy, the ginger beef was just sweet meat with no spice, like soggy chewy leather. I don't know where all the good reviews of this place come from but both my fiance and I got very sick from this food still suffering the next day sick, and $25.00 it was extremely overpriced for this as far as I'm concerned. It wasn't as good as I remember, but their fried chicken wings are really the best. Crispy yet moist 👌 the shrimp skewers are good too. I'm disappointed with the spicy crab and the snow crab legs. Everything stuck to the shell and the dungeness crab had good flavor but ... the meat just wasn't fresh, it had a strange baking soda taste to it. The stir fried shrimp was also not that fresh, I was sad about that when it used to be my go to dish second to the chicken wings. Overall, it was only okay. Not a bad buffet, it had a large selection of classic chinese food items and dim sum and also some breakfast items like eggs, sausage and bacon. They had sushi for lunch which wasn't very good. Some of the things had too much vinegar like the ginger beef and sweet ... and sour soup. There's also a salad bar and dessert cakes and ice cream. For lunch, the variety is decent, with regular sushi and some Hong Kong-style dim sum, as well as salads and soups. There are six soup options, and personally, I like the hot and sour soup. Fresh, hot, and mouth-watering! They replenish the buffet often, and the price is reasonable! You can find a huge selection of international dishes. It may be packed, but waiting time is not long. The staff are friendly and approachable. It's one of my favourite go-to places in Calgary!
