Lloyd’s Patty Plus - Calgary, Alberta

Customer experience ruined the rest of my day. I have been going to Lloyd’s for a long time but this customer experience really was bad. Lloyd was friendly enough but the 3 people working the register were not. They got the order wrong and said “that’s what we heard” when they brought ... me two CASES of lukewarm patties (instead of cold). The 4 “hot” patties we had to eat there were barely above room temperature. When we were leaving I said goodbye and all the lady had to say was “did you cash yet” (we had). Lloyd's Jamaican patties have a popular reputation in town, so I was looking forward to the opportunity to try some. Eventually, I found myself in the area and made sure to grab some. I got a regular Beef Patty and a Spicy Beef Patty. They were served very hot. The patty ... exterior was crispy and flakey. The meat filling was wet, less textural, and there's plenty of air inside. My experience with Jamaican patties was during my university days at UBC, so I'm not sure what is authentic and how it should be. I just know that I enjoyed these Jamaican patties. 10/10, spicy beef patty with coco bread is my fav! Place has a likkle vibe, not too long of a wait. Could be a bit more organized as they don’t write down the orders and don’t always put everything you ordered in your bag. But the good news is that ... they always re-check the order before you pay, and mek it right. And it’s still affordable, unlike some spots in YYC. It’s nat yaad but damn close. 😉 Read more

Friendly staff, and amazing food. Delicious patties (had spicy beef and spicy chicken), the oxtail was so good, fall off the bone 🤤 and the curried goat is so tender with fantastic flavours. Definitely coming back often

Lloyd's Jamaican patties are absolutely amazing. We normally pick up a couple of dozen frozen patties and warm them up when the craving hits. The first time we wondered in there (many years ago), the gentlemen was so kind and polite. The store was actually closed at ... the time, and he was there to pickup something. He then offered to heat up a couple of the Jamaican patties for us. We have been hooked ever since. Their jerky chicken and oxtail are equally awesome! At times, their customer service may seem cold or even rude, but they are actually really nice people and their food is incredibly delicious. Read more
