Swiss Chalet Rotisserie & Grill - Calgary, Alberta

Twice a year we go to Swiss Chalet for annual bday meal. Service is always good and you know what to expect for the food. Prices have gone up a bit last few years, but it's still reasonable.

Service was probably the worst part. Zero enthusiasm from the server. Monotone and very unexcitable personality. The side of mash potatoes pictured looks like a bun, it almost looks like it’s molded to look like a bun. Can honestly say I’ve never seen it look like that before. Not the ... greatest experience, feels like a country diner which I think maybe better. 100% instant mashed potatoes and probably the worst tasting ones in my opinion. Was like eating playdoh. The waitress asked for a tip when we were trying to pay. We used a gift card and she says please work, and says yay when it does…. A bit of professionalism lacking here. We’re not children. We ordered the double leg dinner set. The baked potato was soooooo dry and bland - we managed to have 2 bites and it went wasted. The sauce came with the double leg was also tasteless. We ate the chicken legs without the sauce which is also very bland. Costco does a ... much better job and half of the price. We also ordered the 15 pc honey garlic wings - they were beyond over done. The crust outside was hard as rock and the meat was dry. The sauce was not even tossed evenly which made the whole experience even worse. The online system was very easy to use, and the pick up signs were very easy to follow - pick up from the Harvey side. The whole order was $40, but definitely not worth it. I’ve been a customer for years and tonight (12/1/23) we ordered to take out a Family Pak. We ordered around 7:20 pm and literally not even 5-10 mins our order was ready. Sure it’s fast service but when we got home the chicken wasn’t cooked properly looks like they rushed ... this to be served. I am pregnant so I can’t eat raw and not well cooked food. Tried to call the store and staff says Manager will call me. The store is about to close and still not hearing anything from them. I already gave my number and still not able to call what’s going to be their resolution to this. This is the first time this happened to me in this restaurant. We can’t even go back and make them changed our order because we just drop by coming from North and we live in deep south. What a waste of time and food. Read more

I hadn't been to Swiss Chalet in quite sometime but got some coupons in the mailbox and decided it was time to check it out. When entering, it was easy to tell that there had been a renovation done since the last time I had been there but the addition of ... the televisions displaying the live hockey game seemed to fly in the face of a family restaurant concept. It is distracting. The food was excellent and came out hot and quickly. The kids meals for $8.99 are an excellent value with enough variety to keep kids satisfied. The macaroni balls were quite original. I had never seen thst dish before. The Quarter Chicken meal was superb but it would be nice to be advised that choosing white meat (breast) over dark meat (leg) is a $2 upcharge. I likely would still have chosen it, but I would like to be advised of such when the waitress asks me which type of meat I would prefer. This leads me to my final comments on the service. Our server took forever to get to us, refill our drinks, bring our our bill and check on us. That is crucial when you have kids in tow. She seemed nice enough but either overburdened or not organized. I don't know which honestly. Read more
