We took in the dinner service during Canada long weekend. We got the impression that staffing might have been an issue as staff mentioned that weren't performing in their usual roles. Cocktails were fantastic and we benefited from expert wine advice. (Our wait staff had a special interest and expertise in ... wines.) Oysters and mussels were fresh, although it was a bit odd to get a single small piece of toast to accompany a giant bowl of mussels (which were clearly meant to share). We experienced a number of delays getting our order in and receiving the entrees after the appetizer (there was a about an hour gap). The sablefish and halibut dishes were excellent. The bison striploin was plated beautifully and the flavors were fun, however the dish arrived very cold :o. That's actually the first time we've ever experienced that (at any restaurant). After the hour wait we elected to just forge ahead. Dessert was a bit of a mixed bag. The flat white was delicious, but it was garnished with what looked like a large sheet of candy wafer. Thankfully the wait staff warned us that it wasn't actually edible (we tried for fun and it was similar to plastic). It wasn't clear if it was failed candy wafer or if someone new made a poor selection for artistic garnish. The crepe cake was a neat idea. However each crepe was already quite thick, and the end result was like eating a dense pancake, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of a crepe. Overall, we were pleased that all the staff were so friendly, and did appear to be trying their very best. The experience was marred by a lot of issues from the kitchen and a slow experience. It definitely wasn't a bad experience, but fell short of our expectations at the price point. Read more
