I got the smoked meat poutine! The fries were fried to a perfect crisp and the gravy was delicious. Very nicely seasoned and isn’t heavy at all. Only complaints I have is that some of my cheese curds were still cod and also the smoked meat really didn’t have any ... smokiness to it. Very bland in seasoning and overall flavour profile. THE KING IS TRULY DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER going here again! Was good at one time. I live in the area and went there quite often but have not been there for a while. 1. Very minimal parking now since the gas station next door is now a U-Haul truck depot taking up a lot of ... the parking. 2. Place was totally empty which should have been my first hint. 3. No one at the counter when I walked in. Looked at the menu and was astounded at the prices. I was there so I thought I would order a Queen Smoked Meat sandwich and bottle of water. Paid for it. The counter person was very rude and curt to start with. 4.Sat down at a table and waited for over 10 minutes with no sandwich or attendant in sight but I heard him gabbing on the phone the entire time in a back room. 5. I stood up and he appeared with my tiny $17.05 sandwich an two very thin pickle slices. A bottle of water was included in that $17.05. He was still talking on his cell phone. 6. I swear the entire sandwich amounted to 4 small bites. OMG 7. Another lady walked in after me and after waiting 10 minutes just walked out in frustration and made a comment to the rude counter person that she was never coming back and would post a review about her experience. The rude attendant then yelled at her saying to never come back. In summary, this place was a decent place years ago BUT NOT ANYMORE. Insane pricing for miniscule portions, rude staff and little if any parking. Also, the tastes of the smoked meat was much better in the past. In the past all the meat was right out front and you watched the person make the sandwich. NOW, it is all done in a back room so who knows what they prepare or how it is prepared. It was way better in the past BUT IS NOW JUST A RIP OFF!!! At this rate, they will not be in business much longer. Sad. Read more

If I could no stars I would! We tried this place tonight for the first time. We are disgusted and very upset with what was served to us. The bacon poutine was so bad the gravy was nothing but brown water no flavor , the bacon was hard as a ... rock and the fries were old and flat tasting and was just awful as you see in the picture. The fried pickles were so small under all that coating that you barely tasted the pickle as you see in the picture and they were drenched in oil... The chicken sandwich was gross and as you see on the plate the pieces of chicken were these small hard as a rock pieces no bigger than a dime..... The turkey sub had almost no meat on it for the and our other sub was stale tasting. This meal was absolutely gross for $70.00 ..... Even if it was $20.00 it was the worst food we have ever tasted here in Calgary and will not be returning ever..... My husband tipped the guy working thinking we were getting good food what a joke.... The guy threw in an order of extra fries free but they were so bad no one wanted to eat them.... Read more

This place that is absolutely so fantastic the food is prepared precisely. It is packed full of gravy curds and anything else you can imagine the fries are well done not over soggy cooked fresh right on the spot and the pickles that we had the deep fried pickles were ... absolutely fantastic with a brilliant crunch you could really feel the taste popping in your mouth I would absolutely recommend this place to anybody who wants to try great cooked food. Was looking forward to the poutine so much. It was watery, the cheese was a bit light, the gravy was so watery and flavourless. The fries on the other hand weren't bad. But I don't think I'd ever order a poutine from here again. As for the Sub, I got The ... Knight Sub. I enjoyed the lightly crispy bread, the seasonings and the meat.. I thought it was pretty good and it did hit the spot. If I was in the mood and in the area I would come back. The gentleman at the front counter was polite and threw in some free 2 bite brownies so 3 that improved the experience. Read more
