Owners are friendly, food is great, and the prices are amazing. Definitely going to become a regular.
I walk into Oliver's to an empty restaurant. A pleasant Asian man greets me - I assume it's Oliver. The paint is cheap. The paintings crooked. It feels more like a hockey arena kiosk than a restaurant. I consider walking out and driving further along to an established chain, but I'm ... in the mood for Wonton so I give it a try. I order the W2 with noodles added. I'm hungry, so why not throw in an order of fries. Oliver is working solo today, so it's not quick. Do not expect fast food. Expect good food. He walks out with my bowl of soup, and I'm amazed he can hold it with one hand based on its ridiculous size. "This is W2, wonton soup...for 1 person?" I ask skeptically? He smiles and nods, then returns to grab my fries. Again, I'm taken aback as he brings out a veritable platter of steak cut fries that only cost me $3. So I now have a feast for 4 in front of me for $12.50. At that price, I'm sure I'm about to eat trash. I sip the soup. Missing something. I add some soy and sriracha. BOOM! What am I eating? What celestial being died, and with their last breath poured its essence into these delectable balls of pork? What mathematician calculated this perfect ratio of vegetable to meat to noodle? I snap back to reality, already with my mind made up to throw away the fries to save room for this soup of angels. Well, I suppose I better try at least one... BAM! In my mind I see a potato farmer, fulfilling her dreams of growing the best potatoes in the world. She sings to them, harvests them with surgical care, then cries as each one is shipped off to Oliver. He receives them with equal care and prepares them for the day's customers. A tall, blond, skeptical local walks in and orders fries with his W2. Oliver pours his love of delicious food into his process of frying and seasoning these dear little spuds. With a smile delivered, back to the present, and I know I'm eating love. 20 minutes and a bellyache later, I am more than surprised that this run down, unassuming cafe has given me an experience of ethereal proportions. Now, this food isn't gourmet. It's certainly not classy. But it sure is tasty. Maybe I just have an immature pallet, but the taste is phenomenal to me. Who is this Oliver? Why has he chosen to bring his passion and skill to Ogden Road? It's a mystery. Whatever his reasons, he has given me good reason to keep coming back here. Because at Olivers, you won't be served food...you'll be served dreams. Read more
One of the best cafe's I have been to. Do not let the appearance fool you, Oliver's has a variety of different foods all of which are hot, ready, and delicious. A unique dining experience, highly recommended.
Good food never had any problems with it.
Im almost hesitant to review this place because I love it so much, its a little hidden gym with great food and I don't want it to become to busy that I cant get in for lunch! Their soups are to die for, the staff is very friendly and they ... really appreciate blue collar folks coming in during the lunch hour. Whenever Im in the area I have to pick up some wor won ton soup, they make a unique concoction. Its a hole in the wall building, but the food is remarkable! Read more
