Big Al’s Bar and Grill - Calgary, Alberta

The wait staff greeted us promptly and took drink orders. We had some fantastic food. And a rockin country band was playing some great music on stage. Everyone in the establishment was great. Cooks, wait staff and even the customers were awesome. One of the best atmospheres around

Absolute slop. We ordered 2 steak sandwiches, one rare and one medium rare. They arrived with nothing to indicate which steak was which. I ordered mashed potatoes with one and they arrived absolutely smothered in gravy which was not mentioned on the order form. The second was with fries and gravy and ... it arrived with the gravy container open and gravy EVERYWHERE. Fries absolutely limp and soggy. And you seriously call this a steak sandwich? One measly piece of bread that you couldn’t even be bothered to cut in half so I could assemble my own sandwich for you??? This is so disappointing. I’ve never been so disgusted by an order from Big Al’s before. Thankfully, Ubereats agreed that this was absolutely foul and refunded the order so we could order something else. Lots of vlts, some nights they have live bands. During the weekdays at night the service is kinda crappy. I have had the waitress walk right by me on several occasions and not ask me if I wanted anything. So then I had to go up to the bar and ... get my own drinks. While the waitress was busy flirting with a couple of guys sitting up at the bar. Normally I would not say anything but every time I’ve gone in there on a week night this happens. I even brought it up to my roommate and he said the same thing so its not just me either and i know its not because she was busy because there wasn't more then 10 people in the place. The bartender was great, friendly and fast service. On the weekend the service has been excellent, fast, friendly, and competent. I haven't tried the food there yet but plan on it one day. My band recently had the opportunity to perform at Bit Al’s. I am so impressed with the staff, management, and community of patrons. I ordered 4 rids,,, wow they were absolutely delicious 😋 I had to order 6 more ( I had to ask for a box to bring some home) no charge for the box ! Great food , great hospitality too!! Will definitely 💯 👌 be going back!!
