I got a 2 item plate. Turkey and brisket. The brisket was so over over cooked it was like chewing on shoe leather. You could hold one end of the slice and the other end would no move. Also absolutely no smoke flavor or ring. I'm quite sure it was ... cooked in the oven. I had it before and it was good but not this time. The turkey again tasted like it was cooked in the oven. Last time it came with turkey slices this time it looks like I just got the scraps left. The best thing in my order was the green beans. Disappointed as I really liked this place. Read more
Typical grunge bar/restaurant. Got the meat combo platter. 3 strips of brisket is a half pound apparently. Bit dry. The quarter chicken must be one of those smaller organic ones. The rub was actually outstanding. Slaw was a 7/10 and sweet potato mash was the same.
it was good, the food and service were good, half a sandwich was enough for me to feel how full I was. The meat is excellent. I would also like to express my gratitude to the waitress, it’s a pity I didn’t ask her name. She helped ... me choose food and drink. I've been in Canada for literally a week, and I want to say that it was a great experience. If you want to try delicious meat and beer, you should definitely check out this place. First time to this legendary smokehouse. Asked our server, Patricia, told us the house favorites as well as the daily lunch special. We ordered the smoked ribs, as per her suggestions. They were fantastic. Large, meaty, and spiced just right. Then we split a pulled pork sandwich and our two ... sides were baked beans and a great portion of corn bread. Everything was great. Really didn't need to add a sauce to the sandwich as the pork was juicy. The corn bread was moist. And the baked beans were delicious with a number of different brands used. To top off the meal, we had the sole crumble. Served piping hot with a Carmel sauce on top of the oat topping, was delightful. And we enjoyed our beers. Read more
Had this place suggested to me while I’m downtown Calgary. Close walking distance to night life as after our dinner we went out and carried on with the evening and never once needed a cap to access anything. When you enter there’s a persons sitting there directing you ... where to sit. Tables are made from a verity of things so don’t expect a completely flat table ourselves was made out of a door I believe. Washroom on main floor was always business but there is one downstairs very easy and mot business to get to. They were out of Brisket when I went but had the pulled pork which was just as good. Service was busy and not overly timely but to be expected during dinner. Price was good. Would go back again. Read more
