Wurst - Calgary, Alberta

Brought the kids to Wurst for Sunday brunch and it was definitely one of the top local brunch eateries I’ve been to in Calgary. It was not busy like most brunch spots in Mission, so it was perfect for a nice visit with friends. The kids menu (they ... had the waffles) were perfect for them and there were no left overs at the end of it. I had the chicken and waffles and it exceeded my expectations. Very cool place to go for drinks. They have a very good happy hour all taps are special around 3-6 pm. They also have happy hour for food too.

The good. Nice atmosphere, relaxing environment, comfortable seats. Good place for conversation without loud music. The average. The pork hock and sausage platter was all right. In fact it would be real difficult to screw up the sausages. The bad. The special for the night was a ... buck a shuck. We were surprised at some of the oysters they served. The amount of oyster on some shells felt like leftover from other people. Please see attached photo. The ugly. We brought up the concern of the many pathetic looking oysters and the guy there just told us to accept the variation in the oyster size. It was not ok if a third to a half of the oysters were tiny and messed up oysters, yes, even for a buck. He did not even seem to care. I was torn between giving a 2 or 3 for this place. I guess the nice decorations made up the short coming in one of the dishes and the didn't care attitude of a server. Read more

Stopped in for lunch today, pleasantly surprised. Ordered the big pretzel and cheese spatzel. Spatzel was delicious, the noodles and cheese paired well with the mushroom and cream sauce. Pretzel was good, but in this case it was undercooked unfortunately. However, it was paired well with the different mustards and butter. ... If it was cooked all the way through, it would've been perfect. Great selection of beers. Server was amazing in this instance. She went above and beyond and addressed the undercooked big pretzel, best service I have ever had. Quick refills and very attentive, she was the reason for the 5 star rating. One of the places that actually carries a full range of Ciders I LOVE! The atmosphere is VERY cool and unique! So much great stuff on the menu! Really if you haven't.... You gotta try!!! And check out who's visiting musically! Great acts dropping by all the time! See you ... there! Read more
