Recently tried the Local Public Eatery 8th Ave and although the service was good other than two of the glasses arrived dirty, we arrived in time for happy hour and shared the Local burger however both of us did not like the sauce on the burger as it tasted off, ... the potatoes were nice an crispy but would definitely say it’s more of a place to meet for drinks then enjoying the food. Good was good. The nachos are very tasty and the crispy chicken sandwich was great. Staff are very friendly . The food comes out quick . Prices are competitive

5 of us came here on a Friday night for supper and to watch the Oilers win game 5. The place was buzzing with patrons enjoying themselves, but we were seated with no wait. The food and drinks were quick for the amount of people here. All ... of us enjoyed our meals. Came here at noon Sunday that also happened to be St. Patrick’s Day so they had some decorations put up. Place was not super busy so there was ample seating. Sat down and our server gave us menus. Being as it was St. Patrick’s I ordered a Guinness, and my partner ... ordered off their non-alcohol menu. Drinks came fast and we ordered our food. I ordered the Diablo Burger which has pickled jalapeños and some spicy sauce. The burger was medium spicy which I appreciate because I only really mind a kick of spice. And the size of the burger was a fair size. Fries were pretty good, not too salty and crispy and they gave a good amount. My partner had the Local Burger which was a simple burg with all the fixings and tasted good as well. We also split an order of friend potato’s skins appetizer with the group we were with. They were really good and could almost be eaten as a meal. Super savoury and had a lot of fixings. Price was fair for what we got. There was a weekend brunch menu that had reasonable priced beer, so if you Minus the premium beer and it’s fairly decent. Overall a good place to eat if you’re in the area and would most likely come back if I’m in the area. It’s also extremely close to TD Core shopping center which is a bonus. Read more

First visit to Calgary, we're walking down the Center street looking for grub. We fall upon the Local Public Eatery. Quick check up on Facebook and it's very well rated. in we went. Decor is like a Ranch meets Sports Bar. Warm and welcoming. Great staff with wonderful service. You can ... also play Jenga while you wait. • Good Burger but not mind-blowing. utilitarian. • VERY GOOD Onion rings. So much so, we had seconds. • My girlfriend had the Steak + Frite. The fries looked a little anemic but turned out great. crunchy but not dry and very flavourful. the steak was super tasty and was like butter in the mouth. • Accompanying sauces with the steak and the rings were also quite delicious. And we got to see a real life cowboy. In the end my mind wasn't blown, but it was far better than average and I would go again easy. Read more
