Tenshi Sushi - Calgary, Alberta

Went here with two of my friends and had a great time. Had the deluxe combo for 2 people (#55 I think) - the rice was warm and fresh, the sashimi portions were generous, and the green roasted rice tea was very tasty as well. Even the seaweed salad and ... the dumplings were amazing. While the staff were very knowledgeable, they weren't friendly and I didn't feel particularly welcome. The staff were very attentive on a very busy night (Valentine's day). Got the Deluxe Combo for two. We did not wait very long as the food came out within 10-15 minutes. The miso soup was just warm and a little too salty for my tastes. We also got a small ... noodle salad with cucumbers that helped to cleanse the palate before the rest of the food came out. The gyoza and the tempura were very good. The fry on the gyoza was one of the better ones I've had and the tempura was light, not too heavy. Finally, the 42 piece sushi set. It was very good, the spicy salmon/tuna rolls were the perfect spice levels and had a bit of crunch to it as well. The other rolls tasted fresh and were better than I expected them to be. I've been coming to this place for about a year now and service and food is always excellent! For this cute little restaurant in Kensington, for 1-2 people there's never usually a wait and service is prompt. This is one of the only sushi restaurant that serves raw oysters ... and portion sizes are great for sushi in Calgary. Take out never takes too long so it's great if you wanted to grab a couple rolls and head down to the river for a picnic. Will definitely try more of the hot items with more people as I'm addicted to sushi!! Read more

The sashimi tasted so fresh, it was my first time having Hamachi and it was delicious. Takoyaki at other restaurants are typically mediocre but it was good here! The waiters were very nice. Only bad thing was we sat near the door so our feet were frozen the entire time ... we were there. It was super super cold. Read more

Amazing food and prices. We got 42 pieces plus soup and tea for like £13 each!!! (Yes it was too much food!) Service friendly and prompt. This is a tiny place and just about only one that was rammed when we were walking through compared to nearly every other restaurant ... around. Read more
