Dragon Garden - Calgary, Alberta

The Family and I tried out Dragon Garden in Harvest Hills last night. The lady that served us (I believe the owner) was VERY knowledgeable about our gluten free request and told us she is gluten free as well - she took our GF request very seriously. She marked everything ... on the menu that was safe to eat and they removed sauces that contained gluten where required. The food was fresh and delicious and our family of four ate for under $120 (including tip) with lots of leftovers. If you are looking for good North American Chinese food (with really good portions), you will certainly find it here. It is a nice little gem in the Country Hills area. The staff was super friendly and polite. Everything we ordered was cooked fresh and delicious (chicken fried rice was ... not too oily which was great). Would def go again! Read more

We received their menu through mail and we thought to give it a try. I also read the reviews and ratings before I went there. And like many other reviewers, this place is really nice for delicious Chinese food. We ordered General Tao's Chicken, Vegetable Fried Rice, and Stir fry ... green beans with garlic sauce. The service was fast. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. Although the chicken could've been better. Some of the pieces were extremely dry and hard to chew. May be we'll try another chicken dish next time. Also they say that their General Tao's Chicken is a spicy dish but it's not. It's both sweet and spicy. So if you're someone who doesn't want sweet taste at all then you might want to try something else or just clarify with them before ordering. Lastly, since they serve tasty food, I noticed that they were extremely busy when I visited this place. I really hope they are keeping things clean behind that kitchen curtain. We ordered delivery for the first time. We like how they can order online, which is a very convenient feature. They accept cash or debit at the door. Food was prepared and delivered in less than the time stated on the order. The food was still ... hot when we got them. They used foil containers for the main dishes to keep them hot. We ordered the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings, Ginger Beef, and Peking Style Pork Chops. The food was not entirely authentic but tasted good. We liked the chicken wings the most. The salt & pepper flavour is very similar to the authentic Chinese restaurants out there. We found the batter a bit thick on the pork chop and the sauce too much of an orange flavour than usual. The Ginger Beef was crispy but we weren't a big fan of the sauce again. Overall, we think it's a decent dinner from delivery and pretty quick service (4 stars for that and 3.5 stars for the food). We will definitely stick with salt and pepper next time and also try other dishes. Read more
