Cafe Kayan - Burnaby, British Columbia

Kayan is a very elegant shisha spot with good quality hookah and good food. However, they have a 2 coal change in a 2 hour policy stay. They will kick you out after spending 2 hours, on the dot. I just find the service being a little rude and ... I’ve never experience a time limit, especially when we are spending money on hookah, food, drinks, etc. There were only 2 other customers in the lounge at the time, so it’s not like we are taking up other peoples seats. The service was very fast! All details like kettle and cups, cupboards and other interior things are nice and perfect! The quality of hookah was good and we got what we actually wanted. I visited many hookah cafes in different European countries and can compare. This one is on ... my top 3 hookah cafes I visited. The price mostly the same as in Europe. Read more

Loved it. Super professional, well run with great hookah and beautiful artwork. The vibe is set up really well, which is super important for a shisha parlor, coal changed often enough to maintain the smoke, super tasty hookah flavor with a great menu.

Review Update: After 3 years of living on Ontario, I finally moved back to Burnaby and visited Kayan Shisha Cafe again on June 13th. It's still my favourite shisha cafe ever. The owner, Oula, has updated the place with enhanced cleaning and safety protocols to adhere to Covid guidelines. There ... are plastic dividers between tables, one time use disposable hookah hoses, and well-spaced out tables. I feel very safe and protected. I also love the new menu and awesome drinks. I highly recommend the hibiscus iced tea and berry sorbet hookah. Look forward to coming here regularly again! The atmosphere is relaxing and exotic with the beautiful drapes and comfortable cushions. The owner is super friendly and welcoming. I never feel rushed and I feel like I can chill all day here!
