We really enjoyed this lovely small cozy place. It is one of our usual spot for burger and chill. The owner is very friendly. The service is always good. The environment can be noisy esp when their DJ is around. However, it seems like this place is changing hands again. ... Happy hours are probably the best in the area! Ample of selection, good quality pub grub and great service! Be sure to be there by 6pm to get some happy hours appies in! I've been to this place years ago and wasn't impressed whatsoever, and forgot about it. I got to revisit it recently and was rather pleasantly surprised. The thing is, there are not that many bars in this area, and there should be an establishment that people consider their local bar. ... You can tell that most patrons are regulars there and are on a first-name basis, which creates that specific atmosphere I personally like. I also think that the bartender (I do believe the name is Angus) present perfectly completed this establishment by creating a certain vibe, a good one. We didn't try much food, but the chicken wings were spot-on. You should really pay attention to the happy hour's menu; there are some great deals. At the time of our visit, craft beer pints were $4 and about six kinds to choose from (Steel & Oak, Backcountry, Four Winds, etc.), and wings were $7. That's a pretty good deal if you ask me — possibly the cheapest craft pints out there. I think the deal is valid on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, not sure during which hours. There is nothing fancy about this joint, but it carries that amazing local bar vibe many enjoy. And from two bars located in the Highgate area, this one is my choice from now on. Read more

Bars great it's the only "old style " pub bar left super happy it's not turned hipster. And the food is great, service is friendly lots of good people and regulars

It's safe to come back now. Pub fare compares strongly against those chain restopubs at value pricing. Service is friendly and efficient. I'm concerned that all the servers are well above average attractive and hate supporting that hiring practice. Also not much beer selection for a place called a taphouse ... or it would be five stars. I hope they can keep it up. This time... Read more
