My husband bought a beautiful but also expensive black forest cake decorated with strawberries on top to surprise his son two days ago. We were very disappointed when cutting it because the cherry filling had a rotten taste. The cake looked good outside but it wasn't fresh at all. ... By far my favourite Chinese bakery! Their items are a bit pricier than other options but the flavours are definitely worth it. The food ranges from decent to best-in-the-city! I especially recommend their pastries. They have the best cheese tarts and Portuguese egg tarts - having them warm is a must. ... The mung bean pastry is generous with the fillings. You can actually taste beans and not just flour. Lastly, their green tea pastries are pretty unique (you don't tend to find it in other Chinese bakeries). As good as their bakery is, I'm quite disappointed with their customer service. I understand if it's busy, but it's hard to try to communicate with the cashier. On 1 occasion I'd tried to give instruction to the cashier for how wanted a couple of cakes I purchased packed, to ... be ignored then scoffed at when I asked for the packing to be done the way I had requested. Today I bought quite a few things and wasn't offered a bag, before I could ask for one, the cashier was already taking the next customer. While asking for a bag from the next cashier, she failed to pack all of my purchase, I ended up paying for items that I didn't even receive in the end. This bakery is my all time favorite! They have the best cakes and pastries. Their bread is a bit pricy but all so worth your money. My favorite bread are as follows: triple cheese toast, coconut bun and strawberry cheese yudane bread. All are a must try!

My go to quick snack at St. Germaine is the almond croissant. It’s the bomb! Not too sweet, loaded with almonds & priced reasonably. The pastries and cakes look yummy but not sure based on how the others reviewed the cakes. You can either buy the cake whole or buy ... the slice. I like the slice idea for a better variety at a party. What I love is that they take credit cards! Not like other bakeries that accept only cash. Read more
