Stale overpriced cakes. I live in the area and have tried them out a bunch of times hoping for a more fresh and tasty dessert than the time before. No luck, better bet a few steps away at Save on ...at least their stuff isn't stale. I'd give one star ... if i could. Disappointing. Read more

Back in the day, this elderly couple owned this place, it was great, everything was made fresh and they cared about their customers. The new owners, since 2014 or 2015, Reza I think is his name, was decent to deal with the first few times but changed pretty quick after ... that. I used to spend over $1000 a year at this place. My entire family would buy their cakes from here. When I noticed their cakes being routinely overpriced and no effort put into them, I complained, the first time it happened, they were embarrassed and offered me a free cake, the next couple of times, they didn't even care. They literally charged me $50 for a Safeway sheet cake, and no toys on it. Even Safeway gives you toys. Their designs are hit or miss, customer service is hit or miss. I had a few good experiences but they were routinely overshadowed by greedy and curt service. Find another bakery. Read more

The Best Bakery in lower mainland hands down!! We been to lots of bakeries non compare to quality cake that MiddleGate makes! They made our wedding cake back in April, we loved it so much that we went there again last week and asked them to make cake for our ... gender reveal party of our baby. I love that place, I live two blocks away and go from time to time there. You would definetly relate to it more if you are Iranian/Turkish/middle-eastern, or in my case, half Egyptian. But do not hesitate to buy from there if you are not, because beside the fact that ... oriental goodies are mind blowing (wanna bet?), they also sell cakes, and other familiar products just as any normal bakery. At first I thought of deducting 1 star as I think it slightly overpriced .... a pound of baklava in the middle east is worth 30% or something of the price at anywhere in Canada. However this is the exact same reason why I changed ny mind about this star, as I came to realize the nature of the market, the country, the demand, and many other factors. Read more
