Elite Bakery - Burnaby, British Columbia

For many years, Elite Bakery was my favourite bakery, and I cherished every bite of every Kransekage I had them bake as special orders, including my "recent" 50th birthday and my father's 95th this past February. In between birthdays I often treated myself to a few single pieces of Kransekage ... on sale behind the counter. My great aunt who had a bakery in Denmark in the 1930's to 1950's also baked Kransekage for family weddings etc and Elite matched her very high standard! Elite's heavy Danish rye bread and their Kringle were also loved by myself and numerous Danish family members. With the closing of Elite Bakery this week after 50 years of outstanding baking, I wish Paul a glorious and bright future exploring new challenges in life, and more time with his young family. Elite Bakery has the best Copenhagens and Apple Strudels. Paul will also make you a fantastic Apple pie if you ask him, along with cakes, cookies, etc. Its a small family run bakery with big customer service. I love their multigrain bread and my husband loves the ... course rye bread. Read more

I've been visiting Elite since I was a boy. I can't help but stop when I'm driving by for some of the delicious baking that isn't available in other bakeries I've been to. This is a wonderful 2nd generation family business. The kringles, copenhagens, Jamaican patties & sausage rolls are ... worth a stop alone and the other offering are all amazing. Read more

As close to authentic Danish wienerbrød you get in this part of the woods. The Kransekage is awesome and better than what you get in Denmark. Lovely service and great people.

Paul made a Kransekage for my mom's 90th birthday party...it was the real deal...my mom loved it! It was more than I could have hoped for..you did a perfect job!
