Wanted to try the beef noodle soup after reading reviews and I wasn't disappointed. We ordered Noodle in spicy beef soup, beef shank and tripe with spicy sauce, and beef fried noodle with satay sauce for two people. The beef and tripe appetizer was good, the mix of spicy oil ... with cilantro and Chinese celery was well done. The noodle is spicy beef soup was very good. The noodles stayed chewy to the last bite. The fried noodles were also good. The fried noodles are well flavoured with the veggies and meat. Portions of the food was good value for money. Small hole in the wall restaurant with a variety of simple asian dishes, spicy dishes, rice and noodle option. Definitely will return to try their lunch specials or other things from their menu. Came here randomly while looking for last minute eats and it was the closest place on Google Maps. Parking isn’t the greatest especially if you’re in a truck and when we walked in at 7pm it was completely empty but we decided to give it a shot anyway after reading ... some reviews. It’s completely silent except for some buzzing sound and the server barely spoke English because we both ordered the beef fried noodle and were given beef with noodle soup which was actually surprisingly really good but when I think of fried I don’t think of soup. No one came to ask us if everything was ok and there was some weird guy that kept coming out with a dish cart to take away a few dishes. Overall the food and price was fantastic and would get 5/5 stars but the service and parking I would give 1/5 stars and 0/5 stars for ambiance. Overall I would just get takeout next time. Read more
I just moved to a place near by this restaurant. Me and my wife thought just walk around and find a place for dinner, and we saw this pace is still open, so we walked in. We ordered four dishes, not only the portion cames great, the taste is fantastic. ... This restaurant mainly provide north Chinese cuisine, and me and my wife both come from there. Therefore, the dishes make us fell back home. The noodle is hand made for the beef noodle soup. The hot kidney is just hot enough to not let you stop your chopsticks. They also put a lot of bamboo shoot in this dish which is also my favourite. These two combined together make me finish the whole plate without even stop once. The sam sun is also a traditional north Chinese crusine. The picture does not show, I even finish all the green and red pepper at the end. The owner is a very nice guy. We already decide what we will have during next visit and we cannot wait to come again. Read more
The hubby and I decided to give this place a try since we were hungry after going to the driving range. It was a June Friday at 8:20pm and no one is in the restaurant. Atmosphere: it is a really cozy place. Feels very homey. There are 8 couple seats and 2 ... round tables that sit 6 each. Customer service: it looks like our server is the owner's son? Anyways, a young chap came by to take our order and serves us. In between he is just looking at his phone. Kitchen service: we ordered the spicy eggplant and beef noodle soup at 8:23pm and the noodle came at 8:29pm while the eggplant came at 8:33pm. Taste, Portion, Price: both dishes have less ingredients than other similar restaurants. The meat and veggie-to-noodle ratio is pretty sad. The beef in the noodle was lacking in the flavour. The eggplant didn't have much flavour other than sweetness. Price-wise: they are pretty close to other restaurants if not a bit higher ($12 for eggplant, $9 for spicy beef noodle). It looks like their only winning combo is their lunch specials that is around $8 per dish. Overall: with so many similar restaurants in the area, we are likely not going to come back. Read more
SOLID Chinese restaurant in Burnaby. A Burnaby hidden gem in my opinion. I have been coming back to this place for more than two years now. I love their hot and sour soup, their spicy dumplings and their cumin beef! 2021 Update. Today I decided to try their XO Sauce Eggplant Beef dish ... and their Spicy Clam dish and was impressed again. Happy to try something new in their menu. Read more
