We were quite disappointed when they redid all their decor as it wasn't basketball themed anymore (as also stated in their website still) and it's just generic decor now. The food and dessert menu also seemed to have shrunk a lot in terms of options. We got the UFO garlic chicken ... which was quite flavourful and had a decent amount. It's still a decent place to meet up with friends overall but it's a bit disappointing that there's not much about them that stands out from the rest anymore. Read more
During the Bite of Burnaby Contest period, we dined at MIDAM KOREAN BISTRO in Burnaby. For $65.00, we enjoyed their contest menu, which featured Stir-fried garlic sauce chicken on a UFO grill (a fun experience with incredibly juicy chicken), Assorted Fishcake Soup (the generous portion with plenty of fishcakes), rice, ... side dishes, and a delightful Korean-style Oreo Shaved Ice--Bingsoo 빙수 for dessert (a refreshing and melt-in-your-mouth treat). It was a flavorful journey that easily satisfied two people. In addition, we couldn't resist trying their Pan-fried Crispy Pork Belly on Creamy Rosé Pasta. We really enjoyed its uniqueness and the flavours. The ambiance at MIDAM KOREAN BISTRO is very relaxed. It boasts a spacious and trendy environment. The chefs really get creative with their dishes, offering a variety of casual and fusion Korean food. Yummy! 📝📝 Food: 🥘🥘🥘🥘 Should Try! Service: 👩🍳👩🍳👩🍳👩🍳 Kids: 👶👶👶👶 Yay! There is definitely a lot of competition within this area which unfortunately makes it hard for this place to stand out! The flavours and taste were alright however the service was phenomenal! I would come back again to try out their other dessert options as they look amazing but might ... pass on the main entrees that is not to say they weren’t good. Overall had a good time here :) Read more
The food is pretty good and tasty! but everyone in my family agreed it wasn't the best Korean food we had. We thought the chicken in the UFO was already fully cooked but a couple of our pieces were half done / undercooked so that was just an unpleasant surprise ... we didn't expect. We've tried their desserts before as well. I think their beautiful presentations set too high of an expectation for the taste that it can be a little disappointing when it doesn't taste crazy phenomenal. Service is ok but they get pretty busy so you might have to wait a while before they respond to you ringing the bell. The place is built with very hard surfaces so it was very noisy. That along with the fact that many young adults gathered here who generally spoke very loudly. I was able to clearly overhear the conversations from every table in the restaurant and I felt kinda intrusive and experienced an auditory overload that led to a headache. My family didn't seem as bothered by it though so it probably won't affect you as much unless you're sensitive to it or prefer more privacy like me. Overall I think it's a nice social place to eat with friends or family if you don't mind a noisy atmosphere but just wasn't the place for me. ^^ Read more
I haven't been here for a few years and things have changed. I'm not too sure if they have new management since the last time I was here, but the menu definitely changed. It use to be a quiet little dessert restaurant and now its decorated ... with like a sports bar with loud music (not a good or bad thing, just different). Food was really good and prices are quite reasonable. I enjoyed the matcha mochi toast a lot. However, I didn't quite understand the tea at all, it was presented very well, but it tasted bland, just hot water with a few tea leaves. Read more
