Kawawa Japanese Ramen - Burnaby, British Columbia

An Eat All You Can menu, is good choice for a very reasonable price $24 on a weekend, $23 on weekdays… i think it’s worth it. Although quality of some food items were just ok. I like the salmon head karage. It was a good try coming to this restaurant!

Food: —The nigiri here is actually quite good, the tai and salmon didn’t taste fishy and were a decent size. The makis and california rolls were quite standard and enjoyable. Overall 5/5 — The “fresh fruit” was just a cut up orange, it was good though. Cold, juicy, “fresh?” 5/5 — The edamame ... was cold and over cooked 1/5 —“Vegetable Teriyaki”: boiled cabbage with teriyaki sauce 1/5 —“Chicken Teriyaki”: a slice of chicken with teriyaki sauce 1/5 —“Vegetable Udon”: udon with a sprinkle of boiled cabbage 1/5 Service: They seemed kind? I think they tried to give our table the wrong food at least 2x. They came around with tea, but rarely came to fill our water. Checked up once, nothing really notable. They never check back on us after the first time, so I couldnt tell them they missed a part of my order. Atmosphere: To put it the best way, it just lacked atmosphere. The booths were comfy, but the place was unkept. The tables don’t get cleaned until a new party arrives. Liked this place. Nice and friendly staff, delicious food, with good prices. Very quiet and peaceful place in Metropolis. They have really tasty bamboo in their chicken ramen. And I loved that they served chicken separately so it was crunchy💖

Totally not recommended. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we already saw cobwebs/ dust buildup on the lamp shades. The floor seemed dusty too. The owner/chef was seen coughing in the dining area without covering his mouth. Unhygienic. The food was terrible. We ordered original pork, kawawa, fried chicken, and shoyu ramen. The ... prok broth tasted like instant ramen soup, and the chicken broth simply had the taste of msg (it didn't even taste like chicken). The server didn't take our order properly, and our order was missing eggs and had the wrong broth. However, the server did not admit her mistake and insisted that the order was correct. It was until we showed her the menu when she finally agreed to give us our egg back (she didn't address the issue with the broth). Will not come back to this restaurant. Good value resturant, conveniently located in metropolis, its nice to have a quick bite in rainy day. Lots of choices of foods and the food came very quickly and the service was surprising good! Its nice that the parties can do all you can eat and choose from regular ... menu in one table. *As long all parties who are not eating all you can eat needs to choice items over $15. Read more
