I booked a trip to Vancouver for 3 days and I specifically picked Best Western plus Burnaby for my hotel to go here for the authentic Burnaby Dim Sum. We were denied at the door twice because they were "too busy" they had 4 to 5 tables open.. So instead we ... went to Jang mo Jib for a delicious meal. The breakfasts here are good. Food taste is mediocre, price is reasonable. Quality and freshness is good. There are better shanghai restaurants in vancouver but this place is good enough and centrally located if one wants something quick.

Pan-fried pork dumplings is the slim stick loosely-wrapped type instead of the fully wrapped well-sealed type, therefore, contains little to no soup. Steamed Shanghai dumplings and Pan-fried pork buns have plenty of comforting hot juices. Spicy beef noodle in soup tastes more interesting compared to Meat sauce in noodle.

I am struggling between 3 and 4 stars as we have been visiting this restaurant for the past 3 years and the quality is not always consistent. Before they renewed their tenancy earlier this year, the food quality went downhill so much that really made us disappointing. But our ... most recent visit on a less busy weekday brought so many surprises. Xiao lung bao 小龍包 has thin wrapper like paper enveloping soupy meat. The best ever that I had in this restaurant. The smoked duck 醬茶鴨 is tender and juicy. Braised Pork Knuckle 元蹄 is soft and gelatinous. Scallion oil noodles 蔥油拌面 is the simplest and tastiest noodle dishes there. Hot & Sour soup got the right balance of different flavors. Awkward and rude service. They changed ownership, as the food portions, service and cleanliness has gone downhill. We were ordering our food and the waiter kept on interrupting/ arguing and telling us that we were ordering too much. Dishes are pricy and on the smaller side. My mother asked ... for a fork and knife and the waiter told my mom that the white guy already asked for it. Steamed soup dumplings ( xiaolongbaos) are frozen and not fresh, they were tiny, dried out, and not hot. Had the pan fried ones too, they came out less than 1 minute after we ordered, so we assume that it was leftovers from their lunch service, as it was lukewarm and soggy. One of the servers shoved the plate of prawns onto the table, without a serving spoon, and did not care to make room for the dish, so the dish of prawns was almost hanging off the table. Had to flag the waiter down countless times to clear up our table and change our plates ( our plates had accumulated a lot of bones), and when we asked for new plates, he just gave us 4 extra plates but did not collect or take away the dirty ones. We brought dessert and told the server to bring us 4 plates, 4 forks and a knife. She gave us 4 plates and 4 forks, and we had to flag her down for a knife.
